BRU 11/09/08: OO-VAS, problems??

Post by Lamal »

Hi,

noticed OO-VAS was leaking some liquids out of his right wing today on take-off around 1400 local. Is this fuel?
Is this serious, or does it happen all the time? ;)

All info on this are welcome;

Greetz,

Isn't that rather a high altitude contrail by another aircraft, hidden by the wing? It doesn't seem to follow the aircraft's path...

I hope not, that problem should've been fixed by now.

No, it isn't. 100% sure. I stood pretty close to the aircraft (Cargo apron).

These two other pictures exclude the "high altitude contrail"-theory:

But what is it then???

Maybe they're doing a promo for a forthcoming merger à la SN/TV?!

Seriously, I have no clue, especially if it didn't return to base afterward? But your surely have some compelling evidence, let's hope someone from them will see this thread and have an internal quest, eventually with some appreciable feedback.

I far as I know, a B737-800 doesn't have a fuel dump system. I'd go for some votrex-like effect, although I'm only guessing...

Hello,

Indeed, 737's do not have fuel dumping capabilities.

As for the picture, check out this page: http://www.b737.org.uk/fuel_tank_vent.htm
If you zoom on the right wing, you will see it appears to come from this tank vent.

EDIT: quote from the webpage
The vents (NACA ducts), located near each wing tip, provide a small positive head of pressure on the fuel in all three tanks. This prevents a vacuum forming as fuel is used, assists the fuel pumps and reduces evaporation. NB if you overfill the fuel tanks, then this is where the ensuing fuel spillage will come from!

Did anyone get a photo of "Little Europe" the LH CRJ? I saw it from the departure lounge but could not get a photo of it, only a bit of video.
