Can the Netherlands do better than Belgium in this?

Post by SN30952 »

Today I read this in "The Standard, the greater China business newspaper.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) warned the delta had overtaken the United States to have the most congested airport zone in the world, Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday. There are now 0.8 airports per 10,000 square kilometres in the Yangtze delta, topping the US' 0.6, CAAC's planning section head for east China, Li Guoqiang, was quoted as saying.

But if I remember well Belgium has 30000square kilometres.
And I count the following INTERENATIONAL airports besides the National airport in Zaventem:
Zaventem.....BRU...EBBR (50°54'08"N 04°29'55"E) Elevation: 184 Runway Length: 11935 - 10534 - 9800 Feet
Deurne.........ANR...EBAW (51°11'24"N 04°27'46"E) Elevation: 39 Runway Length: 4954 Feet
Oostende.....OST...EBOS (51°11'56"N 02°51'44"E) Elevation: 13 Runway Length: 10498- 2057 Feet
Liege............LGG...EBLG (50°38'15"N 05°26'36"E) Elevation: 659 Runway Length: 10784 - 7676 Feet
That is 4/30000 and 1.333/10000 for the Kingdom of Belgium, but if we take Flanders the density is even higher than 2/10000!!!
Met alle Chinezen maar niet met ons, dus...

Making it 8 runways, in fact Belgium itself is one huge airport....

Another amazing fact.

The Dover to Oostende air corridor is the most congested air corridor in the World!

Interestingly enough, OAC recently mentionned that it was the NYC-BOS route that was currently the most congested, taking over a domestic route in Japan and the Paris-London route.
