The future of DHL in Brussels

Post by sn26567 »

After the transfer of its European hub from Zaventem to Leipzig in the spring of 2008, DHL will keep some 20 flights per night to and from Brussels National Airport, or 100 flights per week and 5,000 night flights per year, said the federal ombudsman for the airport of Zaventem. Philippe Touwaide added that DHL currently operates 60 flights per night, 300 per week, and 15,000 per year.

Still,

20 flights a night is a third of what it is today. It's more then "just a few flights". Also , 10 planes a night means they still need a nice infrastructure.

And probabbly they'll grow again in a few years!

Kind regards,

Stij

You should do some nightspotting to see them in action

ETA is 23:50, every day from Monday till Friday.

Here's a rare daylight shot (not mine) http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=334843

Guys,

The DHL Flights wil consist :

2 A300's 2 737's and 1 757.

the TUP wil fly from Liepzig to Moscow
the LOS flight takes also cargo for Accra onboard : 1 DC10 later MD-11 (GCO)
the Flight to JFK wil remain = 1 MD11 (WO)

This last 2 flights could change when the "Newco" Project is alive and running.

Cheers

Wel,

at work there are papers on the wall : 5 inbounds + 5 outbounds = 10 flights !

( Papers = staff notes to employees )

longhauls dont belong to this as they wil most likely be cancelled when "Newco " is up and running .

Hi,

Yeah thats totaly wrong, we have now 32 flights in and 32 out . if this became 20 flights they would never talk about trow people out ...

So Guys never believe the press , only 10% what they say is correct..

I did see a presentation about flights from BRU and it showed
10 inbounds and 10 outbounds
3x BRU/LEJ
1x BRU/BGY
1xBRU/EMA
1xBRU/CPH
1xBRU/VIT
1xBRU/SNN outbound only
1xKEF/BRU inbound only
longhaul
1x BRU/LOS
1xBRU/EMA/JFK

expected fleet: 4 A300, 2 B737, 3 B757 en 1 MD11

but its DHL so it will problably all chance again

This is also the info I received, 10 in and 10 out. We will see next year, I really don't care.
Saw last week the new Leipzig hub as we went with the A300 as a test for the local people in training, impressive. It is very big.

One thing i will predict!
When the big move has been completed there will be a big strike in LEJ ,the people work for very low wages (i know a DHL ramp supervisor who left to become a airport fuel truck driver ,this because it paid 25% more)

Let the revolution begin
