First: I'm in favorite of Brussels and EBOS expansion !!!
Second: there is still place for cargo at EBBR and EBOS and I hope it will grow, I think it will grow cause figures show it, at brussels a lot of 747, Jordian Cargo, at EBOS they should promote it more: still place left and it is a great thing if it would increase cause it counts with the figures in total!
Third: passenger flights are increasing at EBBR and EBOS : I hope this will carry on!!!!
Fourth: there is a place for a 'hub' at EBBR but also 'EBOS', cause there are lot of paasengers willing to travel , only thing is pilot shortage ...
I hope the best,

Hi guys,

been a bit away from the forum , but now i'm back with the thoughts i have for Brussels Airport .

First i would like to say that 2008 wil be a year to write down as a big milestone in aviation history . with this i mean the new hub of jet airways , the opensky event US-EU.
Brussels Airport is in the middle of europe with other big airports around it.
let have a smal look at the first 3 airports we are thinking about.
Frankfurt = Slot restricted , they cant allow new companies to operate to the airport...
Amsterdam = Ecotax , pax search for alternate airport , Tax comming on a bad moment ...
London Heatrow = Slot restricted, cost airlines milions of dollars to get slot at that airport, companies wil try to find a cheaper solution ( as example Jet Airways found Brussels this way )
we wil see more and more Airlines comming to Brussels.
and the connections to Heatrow Paris frankfurt wil become beter and beter with the Thalys and TGV Trains.
Even <cargo at brussels is rising. we can expect Jet Cargo to place thier Europian HUB at Brussels. ( If they start a cargo Company )
a smal thought

The "Diabolo" will connect the Brussels Airport station to the Brussels-Leuven line 36, and to a new line Schaerbeek-Mechelen.
The federal government has signed this accord with German and Australian companies specialized in the railway infrastructure

I finally found my source of info again:

Luchthaven Brussel Nationaal
Uit de studie van prof. Sleuwaegen e.a.

i see your source is wiloo
my I tell you one thing?
acording this guy everything bad that happens is the fault of the planes
with the Air Charter Compnay (which actuallly is CargoPlus) he said that they are transporting dangerous goods and that's only possible at EBOS due to the low security level but he didn't mention that it was operating on Beek airport too before.
If car crashes next to an airport it's all the fault of the planes because the drivers look up in the sky to the plane instead of paying attention to the road (this is his mentality)
this guy is kind of against aviation so don't believe everything he says
(we were talking about him yesterday about the ACE matter with a real controller at EBOS and he saidit's all bulls**t  )

The source is stating the final report of a Flemish aviation meeting organized between important players of the aviation, and I don't see in what it is anti-aviation :?
The meeting states the need of aviation expansion and includes great statements of important people within the transportation ministry saying it is important for the Flemish economy...

It looks lot's of people forget one thing about the curfew.

As the flights cannot leave because of the nightban, they have to leave very early in the morning. As a result of this, people working at the airport have to perform (more) nightshifts (at a higher cost !!!)

And what about the effect of this on the human body ?? Or is this a minority, and thus neglictable ?

As I have already said in an other topic, our neighbour big airports will have some difficult years.

Frankfurt: same situation as BRU: a lot of action groups against this airport, juridical, etc. A lot of big airlines wants to fly to Frankfurt but have no permission.
Amsterdam: the ecotax is not only reason why airlines are leaving this airport at a high speed, or have the intention to do this. They protect also KLM and Martinair Cargo. Some cargo airlines are not happy with this. Brussels Airport knows this and had already contact with some of them to move their operations to BRU.

I hope also that Jet Airways Cargo will have its European cargo hub at Brussels Airport.
