I'll be flying Brussels Airlines one of the following days. My latest flight with this company was still with SN Brussels Airlines, and some things seem to have changed in meanwhile.
Could someone tell me how the following b.flex options work at Brussels National?
* "Extra fast through security in Brussels": is this also realised with ticket barcode scanning at the Security Checkpoint like on some other airports? Is the fast lane clearly marked (last time I visited BRU it was the most left one if I remember well)? Or is it another system?
* "Priority boarding": are b.flex passengers called first or last to board the plane?
* "Shorter check-in time": also on the airport for the return flight? Is there always a designated b.flex check in desk available in every airport served by b.flex instead of business?
And finally
* Which is the best bookstore at or before BRU's terminal A? During my last visit I was a bit disappointed by the limited stock of a certain bookstore, but maybe I just didn't visit the good one?
-Yes, there is a dedicated line for B.flex through security.
-Yes, designated b.flex area for check in as well
-Access to lounge but you will have to pay 15 euros

Thanks for your advise,
Bart
1) they attach a barcode on your boarding card which gives you access to the fast lane security. You have to self scan, but sometimes there is a lady as well helping you to scan.
2) there seems to be priority boarding but that never worked out fine the times that I boarded in b-flex. Usually everyone boards at the same time. They should have two separate Q-s. One for b-flex and one for light.
3) shorter check in time is in Brussels and all other destinations. There's always a b-flex and Privilege elite desk
4) the best bookshop in Terminal A is the one that's on the intermediate floor.

There really is a separate Q at the gate...
I'm in love with my lust, burning angelwings to dust, I wish I had your angel tonight... www.myrre.be
Flew this week and there was no special pre boarding of anykind !
For b.flex of for platinum. The agent laughed at me when I showed my Platinum card...must be flightcare !

Well there is some murmur of b flex boarding first by the person that accepts the boarding cards, but then everyone boards at the same time anyway, and personally I am not the pushing kind, so wait for my turn.
I will fly b flex again in three weeks to Krakow (private with miles) and to Berlin (for work). Will check again if this service is improved.
I flew B-flex last week to THF and back. The check-in and security were very fast indeed. For boarding, the gate agent announced that "b-flex passengers can board when they want"... so no priority...
On our b.flex flights BRU-WAW and back on 27 Jul/5 Aug:
- Baggage drop-off at BRU was fast (I had already printed boarding passes from Internet); the b.flex area was not crowded and passengers without Internet boarding passes were served rapidly
- No fast lane at BRU (Terminal B) for baggage screening, but the normal lanes were not too crowded
- No priority boarding at either airport
- The b.flex counter in WAW was as busy as the b.light one, although my wife and myself were the only pax in b.flex
- Hot meals (good! ) and free drinks on both flights, also free newspapers
b.flex fast lane security is only guaranteed at BRU airport, at the moment there's ongoing negociations with several airports to provide the same service in outstation. This will however not be the case at all airports.
Since a couple of weeks there's a new sign at the boarding gates which is placed in front of the boarding desk saying "b.flex passengers board through here" and allowing b.flex pax to jump the Q -> it's a tall blue/red sign, big enough for everyone to see...
Flew to Madrid last week in b.flex
- used the fast lane at security - big help since there was a lot of people
- lounge wanted to charge 15 euros for access
- no priority boarding sign at the gate
- no special Q -no announcement
Only 3 rows in b.flex and as people do not see the difference, they put their hand luggage in the above compartment as well - therefore the importance to board first.
By the way, I don't see the difficulty to announce at any gate, at any airport that b.flex/platinum card holder have priority boarding...oh but yes, platinum card holders don't...but that's another subject.
Lots of Flex pax don't want to board first, because they are still in the lounge or on their way. In the A-terminal the official call says "Our Bflex pax can board trough the Bflex side entrance", in terminal it is not possible to have a special entry so the call says "Bflex pax can board at their own convenience" and that works. For the african flights there is a priority boarding for C-Class,Platinum and gold at a special entrance and when C-Class pax arrive later they can come in if they ask the gate agent (with the African flights there is always an agent at the front desk)
-I was the only Flex passenger on that flight and wanted to board first.
-I repeat - no announcement was made so what you are describing is fiction. I will see this coming Friday with my next flight.
-I don't understand why Gold/Platinum have priorities on African flights only and not on European flights ? Look at what the competition is doing for their premium members.
-For those passengers still in the lounge, they can board whenever they want of course ! I am not sure I understand your logic - B.flex are given the option to board whenever.
I know, details, details
By the way, I am flying B.flex next Friday. It is announced you can reserve a specific seat. Well it turns out you cannot do that on the web site but have to call the reservation center....Again, what a loss of time and very poor service !
