According to Belgian financial newspaper De Tijd, Brussels Airport Company (BAC) asks the future government to authorise a minimum of 18,000 night flights per year at Brussels airport. "A lower limit would hamper the development of the airport" says Jos Stroobants, director of operations for The Brussels Airport Company.
Charter airlines like Thomas Cook Airlines et Jetairfly are planning late arrivals and early departures to increase their productivity. After the move of DHL's European hub to Leipzig next year, the number of night flights will drop from 25,000 to 15,000 per year. The Brussels Airport Company fears that the authorities reduces the neumber of authorised night flights below 18,000 per year.

Off topic: first of all, will there be a future government?
If so, I think the government could agree with a limit of 18.000 flights if the night flight regime is extended to 06.30 or 07.00. A nice Belgian compromise defending interests between the airport company and the people living around the airport.
