It's plain wierd. Virgin should also be penalised really though perhaps not as severely as BA. If the fines were based on overall passenger numbers affected then it it would make more sense to me.
So, who is next to be done on this as I cannot believe the other carriers weren't up to the same game....maybe they were less obvious about it? I take it that KL/NWA, AF/Delta for example are treated as one carrier for the puropses of investigations such as this?

Doubtful...the investigation covered fuel surcharges I believe not the base fare.
And as you didnt have to buy the ticket at the price offered you could have gone with SAA or Air India, you could have flown with another airline, e.g you could have gone with SAA or Air India, I guess it will be hard for anyone to prove they suffered any signifcant loss.
