I heard of retractable gear, but of extractable gear not so often....
Now, somewhat :offtopic:
Indeed, the understructure of an airplane which supports the airplane on land or water; wheels, skis, extractable gear folds up into the airplane in flight. Gear that does not retract is called “fixed.”

Malfunctions or human errors related to retractable landing gear have been the cause of numerous accidents, indeed.
The landing gear is up or down.
Gear retraction, gear extension.
The pilot retracts or extends the landing gear.
If he doesn't, or cannot extend the gear at landing, or forgets to lower the landing gear before landing, he is going to experience a big surprise or as the case may be, he will be attempting a gear-up landing.
The undercarriage or landing gear
Strangely, we talk only about 'landing gear', although it is also needed for take off.
btw, a stowaway may be extracted from the landing gear compartment. Yaguine Koita and Fodé Tounkara were stowaways who froze to death flying from Conakry, Guinea, to Brussels, Belgium, on July 28, 1999. Their bodies were later discovered in the aircraft's wheel bay.

All these languages talk about a 'train':
in French: le train d'atterrissage
In German: der Landungszug
In Italian: il treno d'atterraggio
In Spanish: el tren de aterrizaje
In Greek: το τρένο της προσγείωσης

Not so:
In Dutch: het landingsgestel
In Portuguese: o comboio de aterragem
In Russian: посадочное устройство

How is that in order languages?

and that after the severe delays sunday (15th) gva-bru... the 16:10 flight out of geneva was delayed till around 23:00 and the 19:25 was delayed till after 21:15.. all on the delayed 16:00 flight tried to get on the next one of course.... add to the the bad organization at gva brussels airlines check in counters.. they were still checking in pax 15 min before departure time.. source of the problem is that most pax departing on SN morning flights check in with their luggage evening before (mostly pax connecting to africa) as there is one check in agent (no self check in counters) waiting time can get to 45 min easily... web check in is no option if travelling with luggage as there is no luggage drop-off counter.. something has to be done as the sn evening flights to bru are always delayed because of this problem.

The situation is worse at cointrin...At least you have the self check in counters at BRU (and plenty of them) then you have the luggage drop off manned counters next to the B-flex check in. Check in on sabena, and SN bru flights at cointrin was a "delight" never more than a few minutes..but now things are different, I think that they should install self check in counters, or allow pax with hand luggage only to check in at the ticketing office or simply man all their check in counters at peak hours (evening) especially as many pax with "heavy" luggage connecting to Africa on the morning flights opt to check in evening before, hence congesting the counters for those departing the same evening..

...He will need Take Off thrust to taxi to the gate....
