expect almost 2hrs of IFR flying - never even had an IFR check that was of similar difficulty - procedure turns - climbing accelerating turns - unusual attitudes - it kept on coming and coming and coming
I passed it but I am still wondering what it had to do with line flying - I guess the big chief is from the old school where everybody used to fly as fighter pilot...maybe Mr B's young boys' missed dream??
Lucky for me, now I'm learning to fly at BA
to JAFflyer;
I wonder how it's possible that people feel good & happy if they are called out of their holiday, are awake for 24hrs, get 30 roster changes per month and are tired to the bone...

Maybe it's Red bull after all!!
And I wonder how it is possible NOT to accept this as ab-initio...
Sorry, but when you have the chance to get such a job, I don't understand how it is possible to refuse it (or even worse, run away afterwards) for such reasons...
"Called out of their holiday" oh my...
Unbelievable.
Nobody said that was an easy job and it would be quite naive not to face these facts. Of course it is tiring and the summer season is absolutely exhausting, but hey, if you have more important things to do, then just leave the job for motivated people...

My reply to that: motivation only is NOT enough to survive the horrible summer that awaits the poor JAF-crews. Yes, the atmosphere might be the best in Belgian aviation, I'm happy that they still have this to keep them going. But I wonder what the ongoing fatigue will bring?!
I think BrusselsAirlines made a good choice. JAF has been taking advantage of the unfavourable situation that Belgian aviation was in these past years. But now that it's booming big time and all airlines have a high demand for new pilots, JAF will have to revise their conditions. If those are not what BrusselsAirlines was hoping for, he shouldn't just go for it "no matter what". You see, good things happen to those who wait and in the long run patience is awarded!

Mr B is flying his own Cirrus SR20-G2. He has realized his young boy's dream.
I wonder when this B787 will be on our Brussels Airport apron... 2011 like mr B. said? Or with a few months (years?) delay like our 737-800, or even the poor 737-500 and 737-400's?
We are getting one this month, or next month (a 737-800) in wet lease, to prevent problems when the new one arrives in July or August...
Shame that the -400 and -500 won't get our colours... They don't have time to paint it... But the planes have arrived a few months ago, they had the time...
Uhm, no it's not. It's the delay of the phasing in of the 400 and 500. Apparently our BCAA is incredibly slow with this process. After one month and a half they have only just started on the paperwork for the 400. And this is what is causing the subcharters, because flights were planned on the 400 and 500 as from April.
The 500 is doing a testflight today and should be operational by the end of the week, so that will be some subcharters less.

The BCAA !! We can feel lucky that BCAA people don't have to manage fleets of >250 aircrafts !! BCAA is a typical reason with which we could explain why Belgian aviation'growth is sooooo slow.

And nobody asks why it took so long? No other company had such troubles. The only thing the BCAA wanted was the proof that JAF had the pilots to fly them. Come on, don't always blame the governement and be a little realistic please. SNBA/TCW/TUB/SAB/SLR ot whatever company never had such problems. TNT is constantly adding planes to their AOC in Liège, without ANY problems. This particular case is NOT due to "sluggishness" of the BCAA.
