Brazilian company to bru?

There are so many new companies now operating long haul flights from Brazil,why Brussels Airport does not try to attract one of them?

-new varig
-gol
-bra
-tam
-oceanair

and two more are in the pipelines

Varig will restart MAD,CDG,LHR,MXP ....before the end of 2008...gol bought 'new varig'a few months ago

There will be overcapacity in Paris,from TAM(4 daily),AF(3 daily) and RG...

Brussels would be an ideal new gateway for a smart brazilian company,and of course a good codeshare agreement with Brussels Airlines would probably follow as usual...

A bru-gru-gig or even a bru-ssa,gru would be ideal bet...

And BRU is well connected with GRU through LIS,CDG,FRA,MUC,AMS,LHR,MAD,MXP,ZRH and cheap fares can be found on the internet from and to BRU.....

One of the most important reason why there are no direct Brazil-BRU scheduled flights is that there is no market between those countries. The Germany/France - Brazil market is huge. The AMS - Brazil market is also not so large (in pax numbers), but at the cargo market make it worthwhile (or better market of the high yield perishibles between Brazil and AMS). As for the UK, Italy and Spain....the market between Brazil and these countries is much bigger than the Belgium - Brazil market.

There's a fairly large S-American community in Brussels, but I suppose outside the capital people from South-America are not to be found that easily. So yeah, lack of demand is probably the biggest reason why no carriers offer S-A destinations

Coorection TAM operates 3 daily out CDG and planne a fourth daily for 2008

AF would increase Winter schedule with a fourth daily (2 SAO+2 RIO)

New Varig will offer a daily SAO-CDG-FCO-CDG-SAO this winter

Frequencies to which brazilian destination ?

Why the route has been dropped ?

If I'm not mistaken the frequency was 5 times weekly. The destination served was GRU with some nonstop and one flight via Recife and one via Salvador.

Wether or not there live many Brazileans in Belgium or not is not so relevant. The main issue is that there aren't many business ties between Belgium and Brazil (or better, entire South America). Yes I know InBev has large Brazilean ties, but you can't sustain a service for one big multi-national. Moreover, CDG is very close to Belgium and you've to offer a good product (at least 5 times weekly) in order to get some premium business.

Correct, but some of the flights were operated by Sabena. All flights were codeshared between the two airlines.

You have to see bru as a gateway.
So I agree with LJ that the number of brazilians in belgium is not relevant.
BTW I doubt there are so many more in NL or Switserland.

What seems certain is that there is a demand for SAmerica and Brazil.
Just check how the planes are filled on these destinations.

And I agree with the routing suggested by ERICAIRLINES.

However to attract a brazilian carrier, Bruport has to offer something better for a lower price. Airport taxes are too high ... I really hope they will lower them substantially in the near future.
This would bring lots of good to Bruport business !
And they bloody need it.

In the case of switzerland, there is a very important business and financial link with brazil.. there are a lot of brazilians living in ch, specially in gva (more than in belgium)...and there is a very large swiss comunity in brazil that maintains contact with ch..

I have read yesterday in the newspaper "Métro" (french) that Brazil and the European Union are increasing their commercial relationship including transport.

Thus, It could be possible then ?
