SN to Montreal
About the possibility of SN flying to Montreal, I'm sure that the option of having 9W code-share on the route to funnel their India bound passengers could very provide the needed support for the route.
Now if SN could have a long-haul product on par with that of 9W...

DEL-BRU-LAX: 15,486km (+20%)
DEL-NRT-LAX: 14,693km (+14%)
So, assuming the LAX flight would originate from DEL, and it's not really important as only the major cities like BOM & DEL should be considered for direct LAX offer. If it goes nonstop over the pole, you need a 787 or 777 and you may hit the reserves(can't take all the cargo you want, etc.), the last kms are the most expensive to fly, and you have to start your operation from zero but with an offer good enough to attract the precious business customers.
If you do it via an Asian intermediate point like NRT, it already takes 14% longer. Make via BRU - a less congested airport than Asian hubs in a region with less competition on the LAX market than Asia, you add only 1h to that. I believe that 1h over such a long ride is acceptable, you also build on your hub concept.
As far as SN is concerned, this whole operation will definitely cause it to align some of its operations as a hub & spoke in cooperation with 9W. This whole thing will bring some volume and may be what's needed to tick the scale in the plus side for good. Now I didn't say they should order 34 Airbus narrow-bodies because of this
Thank you very much for let us seeing the photosWisoBe wrote:Hey Folks,

Actually a lot of pictures. You will have to skip some I think. Sorry for the reflexion sometimes. I guess I can use photoshop to take the reflexion away.
Have fun ... and tell me what you think about it.
It's very fun to see the photos if you weren't on the ceremony like a lot of people didn't.
visas
Some gentlemen had some questions about visas :
The one who wants to travel does also have the money to pay for the visa . Schengen visa can be obtained in all Schengen country representing embassies and consulates in India The US and canadian visa can be obtained in US and canadian embassies and consulates .
It will be up to the check-in staff /security staff in India to see if the apropriate visas are present .
Jet airways will not be interested to pay for example 3000 USD fine per pax arriving without a valid visa .
If you need more info , let me know

Re: visas
A visa costs 60 EURO for any Schengen country, that's expensive, but maybe not a problem for who wants to travel.carlcat wrote:Some gentlemen had some questions about visas :

The not so successful example of HAINAN Airlines shows that a sub-standard organization of diplomatic services simply keeps people away.
Where are the expected masses of Chinese tourists in Belgium ??
Meanwhile FRA, AMS, CDG,... get 100's of thousands Chinese tourists yearly.
My Chinese colleagues get their visa for Holland in 1 week maximum, for Belgium in "approximatively" 3 weeks. Which airline do you think they fly?? And to which airport ??
Furthermore,I have witnessed very un-pleasant passport controls for coloured people who arrive at Brussels, and then again very un-pleasant custom-controls for the same people. Welcome to Belgium !!
Hope that this uniformed people will get a training.
But I doubt.
BIMAN passengers were not even allowed to leave the plane during a stop in BRU.
Remember when there where technical problems and huge delays with Biman??No fun to be a Bangladeshi on his way to US, stuck in wonderful BRU Airport.
And I predict serious humanitarian situations with Indian planes, when there will be technical poblems, (or just a strike maybe) at BRU.
Re: visas
Definitely no longer true e.g. for the Etihad flights AUH-BRU-YYZ, everybody had to leave the plane both times I took this flight.JOVAN wrote:BIMAN passengers were not even allowed to leave the plane during a stop in BRU.
Given Jet Airways want to use Brussels as a hub, most of their passengers will have to change planes in Brussels. After all their idea seems to be providing connections between any of their 5 Indian destinations and any of their 5 North American ones, so only 20% or so of their passengers can continue on the same plane.
I agree Jet Airways will be a need a procedure to quickly get passengers a transit visa to be able to house them in case there are major delays (unless they absolutely want to save some money on the back of their compatriots
And you forgot the B767 of Jetairfly, B767 of Martinair and the B747 of RAMStij wrote: The whole morning 5 gates at Pier B will be blocked by Jet Airways. That makes on certain days 21 long haul planes at pier B.
Note that in October UA will come with a B777 as loaded on the timetable of Brussels Airport.
This seems correct: http://www.brusselsairport.be/en/news/newsItems/233554jobinvk wrote:I agreespotter1102 wrote:It's also not updated on the Brussels Airport website. They mention the launch of the route on 15 August instead of 5 August. They should correct it quickly.
Where does it mention 15/8 ?

- even some European operators send the occasional wide body to BRU. We've seen BA with 767, (more rarely) LH and SR with A330 / A340,...
BUT :
- this summer, Jet Airways only uses 2 gates at a time (westbound aircraft are already gone when eastbound arrive at the gate - if there are no delays...)
- SN only uses 3 aircraft at this moment, and all 3 are rarely at the gate at the same time
- not all Americans will be at the gate at the same time. First ones have gone already when last ones arrive at BRU
- not all (Hainan, Ethiopian,...) are daily flights
- some aircraft use the pier to unload passengers, then are towed to a remote parking stand for several hours till they start boarding again
- etc.
So we'll NEVER see all these aircraft at the gate, at the same time.
This is not the biggest problem, they arrive in the afternoon when most of the traffic is already gone. Space enough for this one- In the summer Egyptair also brings 747 or A340 Aircraft
The 767 is one of the wide-body, together with 757, we can park everywhere. It should not give many problems. SR with the A330/340 is another question.- even some European operators send the occasional wide body to BRU. We've seen BA with 767, (more rarely) LH and SR with A330 / A340,...
On paper yes, but in reality? At least 3 stands will be needed for the 9W-flights, maybe even 4.- this summer, Jet Airways only uses 2 gates at a time (westbound aircraft are already gone when eastbound arrive at the gate - if there are no delays...)
Most of the time the 3 A330's are at the same time in BRU. Between 0530 and 1130, schedule depends on the destinations, 3 stands are occupied with SN-longhaul. Plus 1 extra --> 4 stands occupied.- SN only uses 3 aircraft at this moment, and all 3 are rarely at the gate at the same time
All US-flights are at the same time at the stand between 0730 - 1030- not all Americans will be at the gate at the same time. First ones have gone already when last ones arrive at BRU
Except UA, early arrival, late departure.
Don't forget we get this summer 2 extra US-flights. Won't give big problems normally but... you never now.
Only for the rotations longer then 3 hours. Everyday UA and 3 or 4x a week ET and HU.- not all (Hainan, Ethiopian,...) are daily flights
- some aircraft use the pier to unload passengers, then are towed to a remote parking stand for several hours till they start boarding again
- etc.
I think you will be surprised. So we'll NEVER see all these aircraft at the gate, at the same time.

They will go to the Dutch consulate to get a Dutch visa that is valid for the three Benelux countries and they will fly to Brussels!JOVAN wrote:My Chinese colleagues get their visa for Holland in 1 week maximum, for Belgium in "approximatively" 3 weeks. They fly the reliable airline to AMS , spend a day or two there, then the train to Brussels.sn26567 wrote:They will go to the Dutch consulate to get a Dutch visa that is valid for the three Benelux countries and they will fly to Brussels!JOVAN wrote:My Chinese colleagues get their visa for Holland in 1 week maximum, for Belgium in "approximatively" 3 weeks. The 2 extra days make them pay less for their ticket and allows them to discover Europe (=Holland) in the week-end.
Dutch Embassies and Consulates promote Holland and KLM you know.
They do not feel welcome in Belgium Embassy/ Consulate.
Business can be simple if you fulfill the wishes of your customers.
We lack a total concept.
A little here, a little there is not enough in today's competitive world.
I think they will have to open a crew base somewhere in Europe and the most logical place would be BRU as we will have many flights a day. The reason why I say this is, imagine some cabin crew members getting ill in Europe, their positions on board will have to be filled up. Other airlines having a European crew base are JAL(FRA+LHR),ANA(LHR), AIR NEW ZEALAND(LHR),UNITED(LHR),QANTAS(LHR), CATHAY PACIFIC(LHR). Another reason is that Jet Airways might want foreign language speakers on their flights.

All I read here, are negative critics.... If I read all these posts, I should think many of you guys suppose to be airline managers. All I ask is : give the project a chance.... I don't think the management of Jet Airways wouldn't open a hub at Brussels before studying the project.... Why aren't you guys positive about the fact that Brussels Airport is getting more trafic?
