4 of PIA's B747-400 forced to stop service from LHE to UK. The UK aviation authority have prohibited the airspace entrance and landing of 4 b747 owned by PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) in any UK airport. The UK aviation authority reported that the 4 old modeled 747 didn't comply with the international aviation safety and regulations.
Currently there are 5 747 (apart from the 4 stopped) , and 11 737 en route from LHE to UK.
The Pakistan aviation authority and UK aviation authority are discussing the matters now.
As far as I am aware the only PIA aircraft allowed anywhere within the EU [and not just the UK] are the new 777s, hence the downsizing of their route network and their urgent search to lease altenative aircraft.
Their 747s [which are -200 and -300 models] plus thier A310s are banned from the EU as maintenace and safety are not up to scratch.
I doubt their 737s have ever been tasked with a jiurney to the UK.
This news is not good and relates to the current situation of many African airlines flying to EU either with similar B747 or B737s. Just remember the popular cases of Air Gabon, Air Cameroon, etc.
I am sure that EU's airlines have also not followed All maintenance and safety prescriptions before their flights into Africa, since this region is not able to determine its own rules and standards in terms of safety and maintenance of foreing aircraft, depending on EU and USA's rules...Just go travelling into Johannesburg International Airport and see the old and polluting airplanes of BA (Comair = B737-200) travelling across Southern Africa...For them, that's the best place to operate old aircraft...
The US and EU air authorities should be fairer and ensure that reciprocity is apllied...
Comair are a franchise carrier. BA don't own them, decide where they fly or anything like that. Besides, just because a jet is old, that does not mean that it is unsafe. Cayman Airways, which, as Cayman is a UK dependancy, is registered with the CAA, flies 737-200s. They are maintained to the same rules as a brand new A320 flying for British Airways or Lufthansa.
yeh.. well i am not sure then... if it was the 747-400's but i am pretty sure some of the planes did get banned...... i got this news from the PIA website its self so.......

That maybe true...but is it not TAAG that was forced to ground almost all its fleet due to safety concerns before the delivery of new planes last year?
Aircraft safety maybe political but you won't find me on a PIA A310 anytime soon.
i have heard PIA have a good service frm london to LHE is it ture?.............. but from experince i know never travel on PIA from DXB to LHE.......... worst service........!!!!!!!!!!
