Boeing 727 with Winglets??
A TV news channel aired a report that Stephen Hawking (the British astrophycist) is taking a flight to experience weightlessness. The video showed a Boeing 727 equipped with winglets taking off. I believe that the plane is owned by a company that offers commercial weightless flights. I am not aware of this modification.
Does anyone have knowledge of Boeing 727 winglets? Aviation Partners offer them for the 737, 757, and several buisness jets.

sorry, in Spanish: http://727.assintel.com.br/proj/wing.htmDC3 Fan wrote:Delta had winglets on some of its 727s for a short time before they were retired. I took a digipic of one at LAX. The winglets were quite large, and appeared to be bigger than in the photo above.
Aftermarket winglets have also been installed on many 727s as a means of noise reduction as part of so called "Quiet Wing" Kits and for added fuel economy. Kelowna Flightcraft's maintenance division in Canada is noted for having installed winglets on Donald Trump's private 727-100.

The Mexican airline Aviacsa also used to fly 727s with winglets, but they have retired them from the fleet; the last one flew on September 2006.

Aviacsa operated as much as five 727s with winglets at a time. Currently they are either stored or being broken up.
Best regards.
