The concept is different: when the inbound flight lands, passengers for the outbound flight are boarded in the bus. When the bus with the arriving pax leaves the plane, the bus with the departing passengers leaves the terminal. Cabin crew cleans and five minutes after the last passenger disembarked they are ready for boarding.BRANCOCALIENTE wrote:Aviapartner or the other bru ground handling have 4 months to train their staff to speed up an acft rotation , I understand why easyjet starts slowly in bru, with those actual handling operators it will take twice the scheduled turn around time ...
believe me!!
As turnaround is 25 min outbound flight checkin is closed so loaders bring outbound bags with them when they arrive to unload the aircraft.
Catering is done in the morning, at overnight base for the whole day.
It works 700 times a day all over Europe, so it will work in BRU.
First of all: the 'other handling company' is called Flightcare. And it is Flightcare (where I work) that will handle Easyjet flights.
Every day we handle flights with short turnarounds (Vueling and some SN and VEX flights for example) that prove that we can do a rotation in 25 minutes.
Be informed before you criticise down ground services at BRU.

Where did you hear flightcare has the contract? I heard (even today) that the tender is still ongoing...Cartman wrote:First of all: the 'other handling company' is called Flightcare. And it is Flightcare (where I work) that will handle Easyjet flights.

And right on, ground services at BRU are not at all bad. Although last bag times could be worked on..
I love this concept! although i must say, what's the price of this all? I know that keeping 1 bus running for 50 minutes costs as much as 2 busses for 25 minutes, but you do need to have the 2 busses available, you need the crew etc... will it be possible to offer this ground handling at a low price?fcw wrote:The concept is different: when the inbound flight lands, passengers for the outbound flight are boarded in the bus. What i meant is that the quality and speed is available in my opinion, but i would like to know what price easyjet is willing to pay for that... will they pay a higher price because they want a faster turn around?BRANCOCALIENTE wrote:You exactly understand what I mean...I don't criticize people working for those handling agents but we know very well there is a lot to improve to satisfy those mega low cost needs, bus available, special assistance presents when the aircraft opens doors...
i know they won't need cleaning etc and that drops the price, but they will still need the basic handling package... and for that part of the deal i would like to know if the handlers will let them pay for the higher pressure or not...

That a question.brusselsairlinesfan wrote:Will Easy Jet be able to support competition on this "business oriented" route ? 1 or 2 daily flights seems to be quite weak compared to the 7 daily flights operated by brussels airlines (and Swiss).
Geneva Nice was opperated by Air France and than after by Easyjet.
When AF left the number of passanger on this line dropped a bit with only the oranges planes. Flybaboo entered the market with succes as somes business travelers refused or denied to use Easyjet even the only possibilitie.

Yes they can. For example, AMS-GVA is a very popular business route with both the Dutch and the Swiss business community (even though KLM has around 6 flights a day). The 2 flights a day schedule is ideal for the Swiss, but also for the Belgian business pax (8 hours in GVA should be enough for most business pax). In the the employer of the business pax (who actually pays for the ticket) does a price versus flexibilty trade off and decides who to fly.brusselsairlinesfan wrote:Will Easy Jet be able to support competition on this "business oriented" route ? 1 or 2 daily flights seems to be quite weak compared to the 7 daily flights operated by brussels airlines (and Swiss).
Personally, my support goes to brussels airlines hehe...
apart from business travel Gva-Bru has a lot of ethnic pax too.. tens of thousands of belgians live around 60 minutes drive from gva airport. Many swiss live in Bru region too. Winter sports pax very important around six months a year + business traffic of course. sn ferries a sizable number of pax on their 07:35 flight out of gva to bru transferring to the african flights. many ethnic passengers there too and quite a few ngo workers (UN..Int. red cross, WTO) all based in geneva.
I think easyjet will be popular with all of above except transfer passengers of course. Easyjet has established itself in geneva as a national airline specially after (swissair)swiss abandoned geneva in favor of zurich. I have to say that service and realiability of easyjet switzerland is by far higher than easyjet UK, or that is the impression I get. Gva airport is very efficient and traveller friendly (even for easyjet pax) crew on the eayjet (switzerland) is local hence the local feel of the airline. I think that the Gva-Bru route will be an immediate hit at the swiss market, sn will feel the pinch in geneva before it does in brussels.
