OO-DID DHL A300F
OO-DLC DHL A300F
OO-DLW DHL A300F

At 12:00 a yellow DHL A300 took off from 25R. Nothing extraordinary.

My colleague and I happened to look at this aircraft at the moment that it had reached an altitude of about 100-200 meter, somewhere at the height of Brucargo, within the perimeter of the airport.

Surprisingly the gear was already up and the gear doors were already fully closed, at a point where other (widebody) aircraft are usually still in the process of retracting the gear.

Then both my colleague and I noticed how this aircraft actually LOST HEIGHT during that early stage of his take off.

The airplane was clearly engaged in a sort of dive, loosing perhaps 5-10 (or more?) meters in altitude. I'm not sure if the nose of the aircraft was pointing up or down.

My reaction was "Oh no!!!". Actually I don't want to say what at that very moment I thought might possibly be happening to this aircraft!

During the next few seconds I lost visual contact with this aircraft (due to some tall building obstructing the view), but when it reappeared again, the aircraft was strongly pulling up in a right turn.

Anybody familiar with such a manoeuvre?

Did we happen to witness a test flight where they were simulating an engine failure?

Or was this a regular commercial flight that happened to encounter a real engine failure during takeoff?

Thanks for any feedback.

Did test flight of a couple of hours, so you witnessed it. Nothing special, saw these kind of manoeuvres on other test flights.
