A fifth aircraft for brussels airlines long-haul?

Post by 747man »

I've read in Airlinerworld, edition off march 2007, that Brussels Airlines is in talks to source a fifth aircraft to his long-haul fleet.Does somebody have already more information about it and will it be another A330?

Last week there was an extended article in the job newspaper 'Vacature'. It was about the African activities of (SN) Brussels Airlines. They talked about the possibility of a fifth Airbus A330, but today there is nothing decided.

The 3 other 330's will go on C-check as from ... september?

So it will only serve as spare aircraft until they come back.

I don't think they're paying anything for that one yet. When they announced the lease, SN said they expected to finalise it 'within the next few months'. A few days later, the plane was already in BRU. The lease will probably only start once the plane has been refurbished. Note how it still doesn't have a Belgian registration, another indication the plane is still in the hands of the lessor.

The aircraft is still in front of H117.
brussels is not yet the official owner of the AC.
there seems to be some problems with the paperwork, engine type etc...

Actually, it's standing in front of hangar 41 now.
