STOCKHOLM (AFX) - Swedish budget carrier FlyMe said it will file for bankruptcy, ceasing services with immediate effect and leaving some 2,500 travellers facing cancelled flights.
'We don't have the necessary liquidity to operate so we are ceasing operations,' FlyMe CEO Finn Thaulow told AFP.
A request for bankruptcy is to be filed at a Gothenburg court today.
Some 2,500 passengers scheduled to fly with the airline today will be affected by the decision, the majority of whom in Sweden, Thaulow said.
FlyMe has 220 employees and operates from three Swedish airports.
