Blue1 cancel flights to Brussels

Post by Atlantis »

I saw on Travel magazine newsletter that Blue1 is going to cancel the flights from Helsinki to Brussels. I have no access anymore so I have no clue what the reason will be.

When I checked the site of Blue1 it seems that they offer flights till the end of April.

This is very strange because after their start they have increased their flights to BRU.

Someone with more information or access to the TMN site?

Good news for Brussels Airlines!!

On this flight BruA still has the Business and Economy class concept foreseen (not the b.flex/b.light). So they can make money on this route.

-) january: Blue 1 announces frq increase on Brussels-Helsinki: from 2 to 3 (daily, I guess?) starting 26rd March
-) new announcement: service will be stopped 24 April.
-) Blue 1 in Helsinki have no comments.
-) SAS Brussels can only say THEIR connecting offer remains unchanged

(this translation is worth as much as you paid for it...)

Thinking logically, it could be just the right time for Ryanair to start flying from Belgium (CRL) to Finland (TMP), as there doesn't exist even a single low-cost connection between the two countries. Looking at FR's load factors on, say, HHN-TMP route (it has always been one of the top-three destinations from HHN), I could anticipate a very good acceptance of such a link. Nevertheless, while I've heard rumours about a press conference next week in Charleroi, I have not found even a single hint about CRL-TMP possibility. :? Let's wait a bit, however...

All that glitters isn't golden in the lowcost world if you see the recent failures at BRU:

Smartwings
Blue1
Condor
FlyBe
Helvetic

Condor was predicted: way to big a/c for that kind of route and bad schedule.
Smartwings was bad from the beginning, was not always non-stop to BRU.

In 80% of this cases it has nothing to do with BRU but with the airlines itselfs.
