There are still noise problems at Brussels Airport, even during the day.
I don't think there is a single airline operating at Brussels Airport that hasn't had at least one PV for violating the noise limits of the Brussels region.
Operating a 747-200F from Brussels over a long sector with a reasonable payload guarantees that you will exceed the noise norms.
You don't have this problem in Ostend, but nor do you have customers there.

They can get their goods by railway in the near future thanks to the new build cargo trainstation.Acid-drop wrote:It's only 1h30 awayCharlie_Fox wrote: You don't have this problem in Ostend, but nor do you have customers there.1h for LGG ...
If you concider the traffic in Brussels, it's sometimes even faster.
Second: I don't know if you have visited Brucargo but most truck traffic is during late noon, evening and night. So no problem with traffic.
And like courier services like TNT and DHL, 24h service, its all calculated.
There is no single company at Brucargo and around that closed their doors because of traffic. The opposite, they build more and more companies in this area.
We used the Ring rond Brussel daily, during spits and I can tell you that the traffic bulletins on the radio are most worse then reality is.
But back to this topic. Fact is that Brucargo will grow and more cargo companies will come to BRU. Like Rob said: "we will fill the gap after DHL"

url will be www.cargob.be and/or www.cargobairlines.be (both have been registrered by Arno Broes, one of their founders).N.Belina-Podgaetsky wrote:Indeed, after several searches on Internet and inside WE NPP's, no mail address or phone number found to get in tough with them except to pay a visit at Brucargo B706
contact: trust nobody likes to see his telephone number published on the net, but I can say it's a very nice cell phone number: it has 747 and 777 in it!

The customers I was referring to are the air freight brokers. They provide all the business to cargo airlines. In Brucargo you have about 60, in Ostend 2. If you operate to OST and have to truck to Brussels you will pay a lot of money in trucking and handling, and lose time.
And don't think the railways will provide any solution: there is no plan for a station at Brucargo. The train will pass under Brucargo without stopping.

This is just crazy. It's like the trainstation for pax under the airport. Why is there no direct train from Antwerp to the airport? Or a Thalys or TGV station like in CDG or AMS?The train will pass under Brucargo without stopping.
If you want to be a "big" player, you need good connections by road and train.
A few months ago, I arrived with the Thalys from CDG and I had to go to BRU. It took me 30 minutes with the train to go from Brussels South to BRU. This is not normal !!

As far as noise is concerned
A bit off topic but I'm not the one who brought it up...
I live on the top floor of a 5-storey building in Evere on the edge of Haren, a few kms in line from where the usual take-off runway ends. Airplane noise is not a problem these days. We barely hear anything during the day and rarely in the evening. Sometimes we get surprised to hear one in the evening, although we see them passing by every now and then.
Unless a noisy aircraft takes off at dawn in the Summer and actually flies by the bedroom side (West) rather than the living room side (East), we generally have nothing to complain.
Also, I'm sure that after testing the waters using older (i.e. cheaper) birds, they will use the numbers to convince investors of their right mind and opt for a more modern (i.e. more efficient and less noisy) fleet.

What exactly do you think the new tunnel will be for? It's like the trainstation for pax under the airport. Why is there no direct train from Antwerp to the airport?
No it isn't. You just managed to take the one service that stops in all stations along the way. All other trains only stop at South, Central and North stations and make the trip in 20 iso 30 minutes. It took me 30 minutes with the train to go from Brussels South to BRU. This is not normal !!

Hello
I think they're already fully planning a straight railroad from Antwerpen via Mechelen to the airport of Brussels. By the way I think they have ever wanted to do this a lot earlier but the project crashed (correct?) , why I don't know exactly. It's like the dream in Belgium to place railroads on the verge in the middle of the highways , that project never really took off.
Best regards: Yannick
