I am not Belgian, but I think it is a stupid name.

Why not rename all airlines to follow this trend?

Air France would become Paris Airlines.

British Airways would be London Airlines.

Icelandair would be Reykjavik Airlines.

Finnair would be Helsinki Airlines.

And so on.

There is only one name for a Belgian national carrier and that is SABENA.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

With a simple piece of chalk:
11.1+33.8=44.9
100-44.9 (of the positive intentions), leaves...
Almost the same % of voters (44.3) prefers an other name...
1/3 prefers SABENA, that was indeed also its belgian market share. 8)

(Now who read 7/7?
Belgians. Belgicans)

Ok, but do you think we, Belgians, would be asked something if KLM, Air France or Lufthansa would change its name ?

Anyway, the poll is not clear : "It is ridiculous" maybe means for some people "I prefer another name''...

A cooler 8) poll would have been :

What do you think about the name "Brussels Airlines" ?
a) It rocks !
b) It sucks !
c) F*ck off !

In a country of 10.5 million people that can afford five parliaments, three FULL governements over a federal one, with the highest tax/NHI/SS deduction on salary and corrolarily the highest labour cost in the world, Brussels airlines is the most appropriate name for ONE OF the national airlines going to complete the Belgian circus, auguring the birth of Gent Airlines, Namur Airlines(based in Templouc National) , and eventually Oostende Airlines and Liege Airlines (or Luttig LuftTransport....to please the third community); I left out Charleroi and Antwerp because they have been screwed early by being re-named respectively Brussels South and Brussels North.
I would love to see an MP read this and then raise a question at (one of) the parliament(s)!
SABENA, SNBrussels, Brussels Airlines.....a rose by any other name.....

I think the name of airlines has to be given by owners of the company. All those discussions are unnecessary.

The belgians are the inhabitants of Belgium.
So there are roughly 10 millions belgians (minus a few illiterates who ignore the country they live in)

Don't forget then almost half part of those who use the Airlines of Belgium are foreigners so they gave their own version of the name.
