Ryanair are moving quickly to announce a Weeze base after a favourable court decision in Germany last week. While Weeze was always on the cards for a base, it was not hotly rumoured of late, so this is really out of the blue. Just shows how fast Ryanair can react....
PS:
Weeze to Bremen: 240km
Weeze to Charleroi: 175km
The Ryanair routemap would have you thinking otherwise...

Weeze is also very close from eindhoven ...
They all have almost the same destinations.

Well Acid Drop, you say it very politely. I know that I repeat many complaints, when I say that it is a 82 km drive from Weeze to Düsseldorf.
See Frankfurt-Hahn, Bruges airport at Ostend, Brussels South, Venice-by-Ryanair and so on.
A major reason to keep Cold War Era airfields active as civilian airports is not to facilitate cheap flying. But it is a mix of strategy ( keep the military capacity there), employment, environment (? well, all airports are very heavely poluted. It would cost a lot of money to clean the soil )
Anyway, I feel sorry for the UK businessman who lands at Weeze and thinks he will be on the Düsseldorf Trade Fair in 5 minutes. It will cost him a 2 hour drive in morning traffic and at least 100 euro one way.
