Hello all. Mexican low-cost carrier Interjet converted its 10 Airbus 320 options into a firm order, which added up to an original firm order of 10 A320, turn out into 20 aircraft. I understand the deliveries will start on the second quarter of year 2007.
Mexican aviation is experiencing a period of enhanced competition, specially driven by six low-cost carriers. For instance, Interjet has its base at Toluca airport, a city located one hour from Mexico City (capital) but Volaris, another low-cost, is also based at Toluca and in fact Volaris expects to receive 8 Airbus 319 during 2007. Not only those two airlines will be involved in heightened competition, but also the carriers which operate at Mexico City will face more competition than ever before.
