Airbus vs Boeing: 2006 Order Book
Moderator: Latest news team
Boeing produced 398 aircraft, 4 more than prediction.
For 2007, the 787 starts to ramp up. 747 increases to work off the 747-400 backlog, as the 747-8 moves into production. The 777 should also increase as they get the new moving production going fully. They have to increase 737 production more, the backlog keeps growing.
Airbus still out, but as of end of November, 399, that should put them about 435 for the year.

Airbus may have a jump start for 2007 as Air Asia is ready to confirm a big order.

But won't that count for 2006? Last year Airbus included orders announced mid-January in it's 2005 figures.CXRules wrote:Airbus may have a jump start for 2007 as Air Asia is ready to confirm a big order.

Most of those were orders that had been announced earlier (as MoUs), and of which merely the 'confirmation' was announced in January. Whether this order is a 2006 or 2007 order depends on when the deal was signed. But won't that count for 2006? Last year Airbus included orders announced mid-January in it's 2005 figures.

That the thing I don't understand, what is so special about people having a favorite manufacturer? What is so special about Airbus or Boeing? If you work with any of the two I understand, but to me, both companies are good and I wish them the best.smokejumper wrote:I guess that all of us cheer for a favorite manufacturer (A or B) and that's what makes this such an interesting forum!

Good point. But then, why is anyone a fan off any individual sports team. For example, there are people livng in the New York City region that are NY Giants, Jets, or Yankees fans, yet they do not play for these teams; they just pay their money for tickets and hats and cheer for "their" team.David747 wrote:That the thing I don't understand, what is so special about people having a favorite manufacturer? Maybe, some people just root for the home team. It might just be as simple as that.
Good point, reason I'm a Jets fan is because I like the team(don't bring up Sunday's game), but rooting for a sports team is different than rooting for a manufacturer, I don't know, I just find this whole A v B thing a little ridiculous.smokejumper wrote:Good point. The Financial Times Deutschland is reporting 800 orders for Airbus, falling short of Boeing's 1000+.

Even more significant is that Boeing captured 82% of the wide-body orders, which are much more profitable than narrow-bodies.

By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly an airplane?
It looks like Airbus are claiming 826 gross orders against Boeing's 1050 (1044 net):
