Hi AirDupont,
According to Flightstats, seems to be stuck in FNA, as the ABJ-FNA flight is not logged as "canceled"

Cheers and Happy new year to all Luchtzak members

Hi there,

Another technical with an SN aircraft....It becomes more and more frequent and the good reputation of SN is falling apart...The best customer are already gone.
I don't know why they're so focused on short haul iso trying to develop the only part of the business where tey're gaining money....

They're trying to cut cost (maybe to go low cost) iso gaining traffic and fidelity.

What a pitty!!!

I do not understand why they keep using old planes ,apart from beeing cheap, it is a very bad choice in the longrun. :?:

Brussels Airlines should have some level of Prestige :!:

They should have taken the opportunity of Varig gooing bust,
to take over some of their 8 B777's in order to raise their level
of quality.

its all because of the top of SN is exsabena and they are still very sabena minded...
so they support sn technics.
and i dont think they have any other licence than A300...
except 747 and 340, but i guess they are to big :)
correct me if i'm wrong.

I think that would be one of the worst things they could do. Remember the good old ex-VARIG 767 OO-TUC? There are currently 2 VARIG 777 sitting in the desert waiting to be dismantled. And no one in Brussels is currently able to do the maintenance on the 777.

not to forget the 777 is larger than the A330, so might cause overcapacity on some routes. Larger also means it weighs more, and maybe some runways in Africa just can't handle the higher weight of the plane ( they had to reinforce the runways in Paris Orly so Air France could operate their B777-300ER 's from it...)

plus you need all the associated ground handling equipment etc...

Excuse me, it has been many years since I've been through Orly, but haven't they been flying B747s in and out of there since they were first introduced?

It is simply because there is no money. The management is cautious, and they have to be because one wrong decision can push the company into bankruptcy.

Of course the "arrogance" once displayed by SABENA personnel will continue..I have flown Sabena enough in my life to know...Even today you feel that arrogance existing in Zaventem...

even though the 747 weighs more, it also has more wheels to spread the weight on (18 vs 14) so there is less weight per wheel, that's what matters ;)

The maintenance of Sabena Technics is from a very good quality. The problem is that SNBA doesn't want to spend a lot of money on this. And this is what they get now.
But thanks to the big long haul fleet of SN, , they only loose 33% when there is a airplane stuck...

Reasons about technical problems sn , no expansion , camair :

Major shares are belonging to banks , from the beginning it was appointed the injection was temporarly , they want now to sell as expensive as possible , second they want to not invest anymore, thirt till today the boss is Mr Burroughs , he is leaving tomorrow and dont want to take any decision before leaving , fourth during years and till today he is willing to pay for a A330 the price as agreed for the M, N and O but that time is already past and his successor is getting the mess and will ... like the titanic , of course the old Sabena attitude ............and the big idea as told by Leopold II : petit pays , petit esprit .
About SN Technics : they are the sweepers of TAT and what is TAT ? The sweeper of Airbus . In other words SN Technics dont like Boeing so Il pleu à Paris et il pleuvinne à Bruxelles .
If Sn is looking to Boeing , will Technics like to maintain them ? They refuse already to maintain old Boeing , Old MD old DC ? Will Sn move to Delta technics ? I dont think so . Choice is very little .

:(
I feel sad to see such a mess on the airport . BRU and SN could be the SIN and SQ of Europe but they just did opposite of SIN and SQ

I do sadly agree with carlcat and as I was just mentioning in my thread on Brussels Airlines a few minutes ago.
