Should I do, it costs a lot of money, potentially even human lives. So, no, I don't!

Kind regards,
GR.

Latest update from TAY FlightOps at 14:19 LT:

OO-THA is between Iceland and Scotland, it is estimated LGG at 1618lt.
According to the meteo office the weather should improve from now the reach the minimum required for the B747 landing.

Kind regards,
GR.

Hello
According to the meteo office the weather should improve from now the reach the minimum required for the B747 landing.
Does this means as much as :

"If the weather on the way to LGG don't get better , the B747ERF will not reach LGG with it's range???"

Would wonder me since it's an 'empty' ferry flight and it's a B747-400ERF.
:?

Best regards: Yannick ;)

1st planned diversion airport is EBBR.

Problem is that it is not CATIIIb certified yet (nor CATII) and visibility is now 300m (+ OVC001) at EBLG.

Fingers crossed...

I think it much more means that the current visibility in LGG is 300m (RVR 23L/400N) which could be under the required minimum of the a/c or crew.

LGG rwy 23L is CatIIIB, which means visibility minimum is RVR/75 (no DH).

It is indeed improving slowly:

Latest report gives:
SPECI EBLG 211430Z 04006KT 1200 R23L/1400V0800U BR SCT001 BKN002 06/05 Q1041 TEMPO 1800

Translation via copy/paste this message is possible on http://www.skystef.be/metar-decoder.htm

EBLG has both CAT II and III on its rwy's.
RVR value for CAT II is <350 meter
RVR for CAT III is <125 meter.

So right now with visibilities between 800-1400m on the RVR CAT I is in progress, the 747 should be able to land with it.
