Well i guess those who needs A340 replacements by then will favour Airbus, it saves them quite a bit to operate Airbuses than going to Boeing... and i haven't heard Boeing talking about 'commanlity' of the 787 with other Boeing aircrafts, something that Airbus does very well. But it must be agreed that something needs to replace the A330 in the future, the A350 doesn't really challenge the 787, the only overlap is probably the 787-10X and the A350-900.

Have you considered laser surgery ( my distorted sense of humour, no disrespect)

According to Boeing B787 shares the similar flight deck with B777 and the future 797.

A350XWB runs into headwinds

As expected the project has run into stiff resistance from shareholders, no decision has been made.

That is just so damn unbelievable. They are falling behind Boeing, and they are scared to launch this program. now tell me what Airbus project has not been successful as to worry these shareholders of delaying the launch of this program?

I don't know where the disagreements are coming from, they have no choice.. What i think they might be able to do is to make the plane bigger and carry more cargo. I mean Airbus knows they will have to build a A330 replacement anyway, there is not much point to try to battle the 787 with the A358...

As for the funding, well they already spent something like $4billion on the original A350, and is probably something near $5billion after all the research for the XWB and composite XWB, what options do they have other than to launch the plane? I mean the later the XWB goes into service, the better it has to be..

Any news on this lately?

Also out of topic, but I saw at this model shop today, they are selling 1:400 A350 models  .. looks nice but i have no idea how they came up with it, it looks like nothing, with A330-alike wings and then a 787-alike cockpit windows, but with a wide fuselage, absolutely random..

Model companies produce models all the time based on speculation. I once had a Stealth Fighter that started selling when the Air Force acknowledged the existence of such a thing, and the model looked absolutely nothing like the Night Hawk.
By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly an airplane?
