Direct Flights Cape Town to Mexico City or nearest

Post by Don 1 »

Hi All

New face here, Don 1.

Does anyone know, authoritatively whether there is a direct flight Cape Town to Mexico City, or if not perhaps the nearest next best, say, Johannesburg or Cape Town to Atlanta, with a connecting flight to Mexico City.

Just asking, if anyone knows and has the time to answer.

Thanks

Don 1

You either have Delta Johannesburg - Atlanta -Mexico City, British Airways Cape-town/ Johannesburg - London Heathrow - Mexico City or KLM/northwest Cape-Town - Amsterdam - New York - Mexico city

I would go for KLM Cape Town, Amsterdam and direct to Mexico City. They are probably the best option unless you can get on SAA to the US from Johannesburg and conenct to United. SAA are a good airline as well though KLM from Cape Town is on a 777 and a fantastic entertainment system!

A quicker routing would be LAN through Santiago.

Hi jumpjet, regards from Mexico. I am not aware of any direct flights from South Africa to Chile: LAN does not fly to any South African airport, while SAA flies to Sao Paulo, Brazil, only. I do not think a connection thorugh Santiago is possible.

Don 1, if you are still interested in this route, let me confirm there are no direct flights between Mexico and South Africa. A connection either in the US (ATL, JFK) or in Europe (AMS, CDG) seem to be the sensible alternatives. I should note that besides SAA's Johannesburg-Sao Paulo flight, Malaysia Airlines offers 2 non-stop flights a week from Cape Town to Buenos Aires, Argentina (in fact, SAA will launch Johannesburg-Buenos Aires flights starting July 2007), however I do not know if the flight schedules are suitable for connecting with flights to Mexico City. If you need any info, please let me know.

Best regards from Mexico.
