Hello
Just find it a bit weird that they just change the name to 'Brussels Airlines' from 'SN Brussels Airlines' , almost the same...:s why should they leave the 'S' or why would they have chosen the name in the begining of SNBA as 'SN Brussels Airlines' and not already THAN 'Brussels Airlines'. Anyway , the name could have been worse , although I would have felt something for 'Sabena' even if it might not be so creative. (like the new name is
).
Anyway , considering I don't really like the new logo THAT much I have a pretty good feeling they will change the livery several more times in a short time I think until they found a definitive livery. So be confident that they will add a more up-to-date livery. This one is just preliminairy for the first couple of planes I think.
Best regards: Yannick

They should have kept the S from Sabena instead of the ugly "b".
The "S" is part of our Belgian heritage and symbolysis one of the oldest airline companies in the world.
Keeping the "S" would also pay tribute to all employees who once worked for Sabena and are still very proud of it.
Poor Belgium...
As what concerns the commercial positioning of Brussels Airlines mixing-up low cost and business I have serious doubs if it would be a success.
Time will tell...

I don't like the paint, I don't like the logo...but this is said as a photographer.
I hope the strategies will be quite promising...said as aviation enthousiast.
I remember somebody once in the past told me that he will speak to me again this month about this "new" company...I hope that I can say "you were 'right'". I really hope it...
Good luck to the new company, I hope they have learned from the mistakes of a beautiful name/fame but such a bad experience never again...
Regards,
Tommy

The presentation in B117 was very impressive with a very nice scenery, great show and great performance of the CEO's and chairman.
On my way to B117, I still had quite a lot of mixed feelings, but once arrived there the more I looked at the plane, the more I loved it.
The entire tail section including stabilizer is blue, unfortunately no painting on the winglets. Hope they will receive some color especially the winglets on the B733's.
The best part was the TV-commercial about the birth of a new airline. I suppose they will present it on TV very soon.
At the entrance of the airport you can see a new publicity poster on the big chimney and the blue tailpart of Sabenahouse B26 has been changed as well.
It looks all very promissing to me after all.

I'm happy that Belgium's biggest carrier finally had the courage to close the Sabena-chapter. I think that stating that a strong and healthy Belgian airline (call it "flag carrier" if you like to) has to wear the S-tail logo or the Sabena brand is a bit narrow-minded. I'm sure that a lot of people felt the need to create a new airline that is able to start off with a blank page.
I like the new logo very much. From a neutral point of view, a 'B' represents Belgium (and its capital city Brussels) much more than a 'S' does. I'm convinced that the "B-tail" is eye-catching and can built up a strong connection with Belgium and Brussels among Belgians and, off course, the clients of Brussels Airlines.
The aspect about which I'm less satisfied is the livery : if this livery concept would have been applied for the first time on a Belgian aircraft, it was a real bull's eye. But now it carries the history of SNBA with it (I understand the aspect of repainting costs, but I'd wished to see a complete new livery applied on this "new born" airline, like they call it in the press release). Too bad also that Brussels Airlines will be the 3rd (or even 4th if you count in DAT between 11/2001 and 02/2002) airline in a row to use the SN flightcode.
As a last remark, I find it sad too for the Virgin staff that there's almost nothing left of their airline. Only the fact that the logo has red dots reminds to VEX in some way, while the livery, name ánd the people's perception all remind on SNBA (f.e. How many times did you hear "What will be the new name for SNBA ?" People almost forget that Virgin Express will have a different name too.) Sentimentally, the whole process looks more like the result of SNBA buying VEX than like the merger of two airlines.
To end this post, I wish the new carrier a bright future, and I'm hoping already for some expansion, as long as it's smart expansion. Let that be one of the most important lessons after the Sabena story. A second painful end of a Belgian flag carrier can stay in the closet IMO.
Regards, Robin Bamps.

Indeed, that's why a great bunch of people are disappointed! In April last year when the merger was communicated everybody expected that VEX would dissolve in SNBA. But then the managment assured that the company will have a NEW name and Colors. Now when we look at the results, it's very normal that some people are dissapointed.Robin_Bamps wrote: the livery, name ánd the people's perception all remind on SNBA (f.e. I think the initial surprise / dislike of the new logo also has to do with the fact that many of the other "established" carriers have very classical and... well "stiff" logo's. So automatically we've come to expect something like that from airlines. When somebody then tries something new, our initial reaction will be "whattabloody'ell....", as it doesn't fit in our reference frame.
Well, just my 2 cents...

any pictures / drawings already available what the avro / bae146 livery will look like? I doubt there will be enough space to put the "b" and the name above the windows in front of the wings?

Just tell me in all honesty and conviction what the added value of the 'SN' in the name could be to any client? Do you truly believe it generates brand value? If you would have to choose between the 'SN' being an asset or liability in your brandname, what would you say? I know what my answer would be: 'liability'. I loved Sabena, and it was hurtfull for me to to see it disappear, because it killed part of my ambitions. Yet, that's merely nostalgia for airline enthousiasts and you don't build brand value for regular customers with it.vc-10 wrote:I don't know what was wrong with 'SN Brussels Airlines' as a name...Though SABENA would have been better. The new livery is too much like SNBA's livery. Not that impressive. As I have said I think Brussels Airlines on it's own is a bit dull.....
I think they made a good move with the brand name they choose. Anyway, that doesn't matter: we'll know soon enough as the only true advocate that can decide on such matters will be the client.
Kind regards and good luck Brussels Airlines!

I completely agree with you!Pinguin wrote:I don't really like the red on the blue background.... they should have made a completely new paint, and not just changing the SN paint...
I would prefer to see the S tail, but that one is now completely gone
