Brussels airlines: logo and colours

Re: Not that bad
I am pretty sure that it was one of the administrators that have posted the new logos in a new topic on this site for a short time and then it was removed suddenly. And now you are saying that you don't want to disclose secrets?sn26567 wrote: This was a carefully weighted decision. We did not want to disclose secrets before the official announcement. But now that the "secrets" have been leaked in the press, we feel relieved from our obligations.
Anyway, the logo is not bad....I only think that the "NEW" name is not at all worth the fusss.
Internationally it might be a strong name, but nationally it will never have the impact like sabena did. The Belgian population are not going to associate themselves with "Brussels", I am afraid they'll never going to see it as "their national carrier". Offcourse this is not an absolute must. The point is to make the company as healthy as possible but personally I regret the fact that we'll never feel the sabena feeling anymore. It's like we have a carrier in Brussels, but still not a national carrier. To bad.

Unsurprisingly, I find the name and logo totally insipid.
But don't forget that "corporate identity" and "brand" are two very different things. BA has a direct impact on the first one (IMHO they failed), but only limited control on the second one because you cannot entirely control what people feel, think and say about your company.
What really matters now is the quality of their products. A great airline experience and a superb customer service can turn any stupid name and ugly logo into a highly coveted brand. Think about Southwest, Apple, Virgin Blue, Häagen Dasz, Ryanair, etc. Not very exciting corporate identity but everybody wants to have a piece of it or be part of the "buzz" around it.
Now, can BA make it work ? I have my doubts but let's see what they have to offer.

Healthy??????? Do you think dropping 2 letters can do miracles?

Maybe because people have different tastes? And the logo isn't that original ...C_J wrote:I agree! Actually, I like the new logo, and I don't understand people who're saying how ugly the name and logo are. Chill guys, I hope the new colourscheme looks better to you.eurojet wrote:Ufff, all those negative people and armchair managers here ... My opinion: good name, and if this is the logo, not bad at all. Why don't we all just wish good luck to the new company?!
If this will be then new "identity" I find it a big waste of money and energy. But thats my humble opinion

First of all, I don't dislike the logo. IF that's the logo it will be, as I don't believe all that's written in the newspapers!
I get the impression that some people here would love that the merged company fails! Let's just wait untill next tuesday what the name and logo, and specially the livery will be! I don't think that SN - VEX people will reveal, nor confirm the new name, as they can loose their job. Rumours can be very misleading, i've seen that many times before!
Tompompier (don't have to work on tuesday, so I'll have to wait untill wednesday to see the new livery in real life)

No, I don't think that. In fact I'll be really disappointed, because dropping 2 letters in my opinion is not a new name. But whatever the managments decides, it should allways be for the best of the company. That's what I wanted to say.fcw wrote:Healthy??????? I like the logo! It has more in it if you take a better look!
1. Brussels Airlines is written in the same font as the latest Sabena livery! Look goo, it's exactly the same "s", "a", "n", "b" and "e".
2. Thab B is very clever. The way it fades out at the top and is composed with those dots, is definitely inspired by the lights next to a runway.
I just hope we won't ge a dull "airbus design". If Airbus designs liveries for their customers it's always a painted tail, white fuselage and just the name on the fuselage. Let's indeed hope the designer will have some inspiration!

If this is indeed the new name of the SNV company, then they failed to find a new catchy and attractive name for the company. At least IMHO.
"brussels airlines" will have the same pronounciation difficulties as in the past (as Brusselas Airlines in Spain etc...) and will again be a rather long name.
But as has been said previously if they have a good product people will remember the name that's for sure. Now we only need to hope that the strategic plans will be more innovative than the name. But to be honest I don't expect a lot on tuesday
I hope I'm wrong :p

Re: Newspapers claim it's official: Brussels Airlines
I looked directly for bflex.com and blight.com and really had to laugh with the registrar from the last one:
Registrant:

US
Domain Name: BLIGHT.COM

How can you figure out your new brand so good

EUGHHH!!!!!!!!! :cry2: That is a horrible logo. I think that Brussels Airlines might kind of alienate people from the rest of Belguim. SABENA would have been much better. Who owns the rights to the name SABENA? Also that 'S' on the tail is just gorgeous!
Edit: Do you get something about 'Lucien' running on Linux at www.blight.com? Also, blight is a word, meaning, among other things, a diseased crop.

It would be very low to drop the SN exactly 5 years after the bankruptcy. It would be a lack of tact against the 10000 families who were hurt so much five years ago. So I think Sabena WILL be in the new name. Be it Sabena or something else, they could offer one free ticket (before taxes) to all ex-Sabena employees, just to say thank you for the slots the bought five years ago for 1 euro.

As soon as I arrived at work today, I saw lots of worried and surprised faces. Nobody can believe it will be this name and logo. Weird enough , as we were trying to show each other the new name and logo on computer , the access to the site ( www.luchtzak.be ) was blocked!!! So it must be true after all
Anyway I found out the majority does not support the name and logo, but we haven't seen the total image yet.
Personnaly I think they are still fooling us with this set up and I can't wait to see the real name next Tuesday.

So it will be brussels airlines indeed.
Must say it doesn't come as a real surprise to me.
sn-brussels-airlines-and-virgin-express ... rt,20.html
although the Flight International article on the resurrection of the Sabena brand made me doubt for a minute there....
Brussels Airlines or Sabena, what is a real pitty is the new logo though!
In have tried to let it grow on me for almost a day now, yet I still can't link it to an airline which pretends to be more than just another European low-cost airline. To me, this is a logo for a low-cost European start up, not for an airline which lives from its intercontinental pax.
I really had hoped at least the S-tail would survive the low cost tsunami which is raging through our offices ever since Neil Burrows took over, because with this kind of cheap rubbish on the tail it will be a very though fight to protect market share in Africa. It's already a given the name will not work (it has been shown over the past 5 years) and if we are now also going to show up with a plane which doesn't even look like a sabena plane anylonger, it will make things even more difficult...
This rebranding looks more and more like it has been focussing on the wrong subject, namely the logo iso the name. There's a saying: 'If it ain't broken, don't fix it', yet it looks the only thing which will get 'fixed' on november the 7th is the thing which almost everybody agrees on isn't broken at all (quite on the contrary): the tail logo!

Already noticed how everybody so far is constantly saying they are not really hot about what they have seen so far, just can't believe it will be the real thing and are waiting (hoping) for November the 7th????
They better have a CD with pre-recorded loud chears from a crowd playing when they roll out that plane on November the 7th, because if these opinions so far are anything to go by as popularity poll, it looks like the only thing they might hear from the live public will be "Oh, euh... eikes..." and then total disbelief....

Aaaaah. Impatience, the number one quality from every luchtzak forum visitor 8) 8) 8)
One badly scanned logo has leaked out (not even sure if it will be the name and logo), and already the bankrupcy has been declared by some aviation specialists on this forum. A few remarks:
- Is it so hard to wait another few days for the official presentation of name and logo? Instead of focussing on a blurry logo of very low resolution (and god knows if the colors are even well scanned), it would be better to wait until tuesday when a real lifesize Airbus 319 will be presented in new colors and logo. Maybe it looks a lot better then, maybe worse, maybe everyone has been fooled all that time and the new name is Chumbajakka Airlines. Who knows? Just wait and see.
- Ugly logo and bad sounding name is indeed not a good thing. But who can say that Ryanair has a nice corporate branding or that Virgin Express is a classy airline? Austrian Airlines has the most ugly cabincrew uniforms known to mankind, but their planes are nicely filled. Conclusion: passengers don't give a damn about this. They want good service, good frequencies and good punctuality for low prices. That's it. I don't even think that the average SN passenger can describe the logo without looking at it.
- Belgian patriottism doesn't exist and it never will. No matter what name or logo the company will have, Belgians will never consider their own airline as their premium choice. Don't count on patriottism if you want to achieve something in Belgium
Personally, I hope for another logo and name. But if this will be it, than so be it. The world will not come to an end, neither will Brussels Airlines (or whatever it will be called).
