Cigar smoking does not damage the memory...

Post by SN30952 »

Alexander Schoppmann, a 55-year-old former stockbroker, has come up with a business plan for Smoker’s International Airways, or Smintair, which he says will offer flights between his home town of Duesseldorf in western Germany and Tokyo.

“I’ve been an airline passenger for 50 years,” Schoppmann said.
Schoppmann recalls his flights in the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s as “a luxurious experience above the clouds.

Schoppmann said he plans to start flying in March.

SN3 - I recall back in 1956 when TWA was competing with other airlines on lucrative routes, they offered "Red Carpet Service" flights.

The Constellations used were configured to all First Class, and when boarding and de-planing (no Jetways back then.) a red carpet was rolled out from the door in the terminal to the boarding ladder (steps). When it rained, the PAX were escorted by a Hostess with a large red umbrella.

When entering the cabin, a Hosted handed each PAX a Brandy snifter with a miniature Cognac, and a quality cigar. (This was when the USA and Cuba had good relations.)

After takeoff, the PAX light up and puffed and sipped to their hearts content.

After about 2 hours, the blue haze was so thick you could not even see the rear of the cabin from the cockpit door.

Gents, it just don't get no better than that! :D

I'm a cigar smoker myself and smoke 2 or 3 a day, and have been doing this for most of my 75 years, and I have no memory problem.
