SN Brussels Airlines and Virgin Express going together
Moderator: Latest news team
I heard that the new livery of the futur company would not have the S on the tail... I think I read this in the Trends. That may be a sign that Sabena is not going to be the name of the future company. I think they are going for a more European profile, and I'm guessing that the Livery could be none other than a euorpean wavy flag...
As for the name? No idea, but something with Euro in it somewhere is my best guess...

You may be right. However as an outsider I had never heard of such a clause.ERICAIRLINES wrote:I'm sure it wil be 'someting with Brussels'....because don't forget that Brussels Gov has some big money in the capital of snba...and their condition was that the name of the capital of Europe, should appear at least in some way.....
Once upon a time Electrabel used to be the biggest investor in SN Air Holding with 12% of the shares. SRIW (Société Régionale d'Investissement de Wallonie) used to have 10.7% of the SN Air Holding shares. The Brussels Govt probably has/had a smaller participation than that.
By the same logic as above also the largest share holders in SN Air Holding (Electrabel, Dexia, KBC, ING, Fortis...) could possibly make similar claims as the Brussels Govt.
=> Aer Electrabel / Dexiair / ING Airlines / FlyFortis 8)

I just can't believe the new name which I've been told unofficially today, but the source is quite sure about it and works at the 4th floor in the corporate village so...
It also matches all the hints given so far by those who know it for sure: it is short, new for sure, yet also familiar to both SN and VE(x) and extremely WEIRD and UNATTRACTIVE, so knowing just how or management works, I guess this must be it indeed...
According to what I've been told (made to believe?), the merged company will simply be named after its 2 components; 2 letters from SN, 2 letters from VE(x).
Anybody care to check website registrations?

After some brainstorm sessions during a flight we also ended up with SABEX (like the former Spanish "Spanex")ERICAIRLINES wrote:Sabena Express .....or Brussels Express ....
The only part you can take from Virgin Express is...express,as Virgin is property of Mr Branson
Sn Express....
Sabena Express is not too bad, taking the best of both companies...

According to "Le Soir" this morning :
- The name of the merged VEX/SNBA will be, quite simply, Brussels Airlines.
- The "S" on the tail will be preserved.
- Strategy : two classes; one very near a low-cost service and price, the other more costly and elaborate. The business class will survive on the African net.
- "Sabena" would have called back bad memories; and cancelled all efforts made to give SNBA a young and enterprising image.

Brussels airlines...flying from..Brussels aiport.....confirmed now at 100 pct.
Lack of ambition once again, chossing a regional name ,that confirms between the lines, that the company will focus only on europe and africa....forget about a new 'hub and spoke' at BRU....and this time forever...small country...no ambition.
Anyway, long hauls pax left Bru since 2002 to fly via cdg, ams, fra, muc, lhr and even hel ,mad and vie...
They will never comme back..
Companies like Hainan will not survive very long in bru, same for ethiopian,etihad...beacuse business pax can nor earn miles on them..they will stick to Star Alliance,Skyteam or even Oneworld cies...
Only US cies, will make some action in Bru....
I only see Emirates as o potential winner from Bru,as new player, because they have a worlwide network, superb fleet, and good connections..they will soon rejoin one of the big three alliances....
BOS and YUl should have in 2008,a daily link probably with AC and a Us Carrier....
For the rest, there is not enough demand for nrtnhkg, sin etc....Our market is too small, just check the BSP iata stats....

So which one is it? Will it stay or go?Following the last informations on www.lesoir.be, the new name will be Brussels airlines and the S will disappear...
What do you mean, 100%? I don't see anything confirmed. Besides, the spokesperson for SN / VEX said the name would sound familiar to both SN and VEX people. That is not the case with 'Brussels airlines'.Brussels airlines...flying from..Brussels aiport.....confirmed now at 100 pct.
What would be the fun in not speculating? If you don't like it, don't read it.Just close this speculation-topic..

The demand for http://www.brusselsairlines.eu was also made on the 4th of April 2006 just like sabena.eu. Only the tatest date for filing an ADR was set to 07/11/2006. If they were going to use this name they would never release it on 07/11/2006. What if somebody filed ADR the day before? I think this is just a decoy setup by SN air holding. The 20t September (sabena.eu) sounds as a more reasonable date for last ADR.
Didn't find anythinf for snve.eu though hehe

At least some other people are thinking the same way like me. Thanks Robin and flightSimCrew!!! And the joke is there are some members who had a different interpretation of the same article in a journal.Robin_Bamps wrote:This goes on and on and on and on and on...
