Streiff did the bad job:
-saying what everybody thougth
-planning the restructuration
Now he is gone, but his ideas and plans are going to be used immediately.
The management structure of EADS has changed and is brighter
Enders EADS co-CEO and responsible for all EADS subsidiaries except Airbus SAS
Gallois EADS co-CEO and responsible for Airbus SAS
Maybe everything was planned from the start...

Mr. Streiff's departure from Airbus may be a self-initiated resignation or a firing, OR a bit of both. An analogous situation might be something like the following:
A person is diagnosed as having a very advanced case of cancer. The doctor refers him ot a cancer specialist who tells him "Your cancer is very advanced and is spreading quickly. We need an extreme treatment of radical surgery, followed by extreme chemotherapy. This treatment will make you very sick and is very painful, but it is your only chance to survive".
The person says to the specialist "I do not want to go through this, I want a gentle treatment with no pain."
The doctor says "But this is the only treatment that will save your life."
The patient again replies "I want a no-pain treatment."
The doctor then says "This is critical for your life; unless you undergo this treatment, you will die. If you refuse, I will not sit by and be your doctor. The decision is yours."
Now, did the doctor resign or did the patieint fire him? Either way, honest opinion is disregarded in search of the easy (political) solution.

It was announced when he resigned in June, quite an old story...bits44 wrote:I have been told that Noël Forgeard is still currently employed by Airbus as a consultant, perhaps someone could confirm this. If this is true it would make this whole exercise with Management changes trite.
Don't read too many articles dealing with Airbus or you could have a heart attack, as for Viagra pills "One at a time..."

It is fairly common in corporate situations that a replaced (read "fired") top executive is retained under contract. This is done for several reasons: (1) corporate hierarchy is often based on friendly relationships and they want to make the transition to new employment as (economically) painess as possible, (2) you want to keep the person on board to learn of any situations that might jump up and bite you, (3) you have some control of the person when you ar paying him so he can not give press interviews and reveal corporate insider information.
I've been "fired" or resigned from several executive positons in my 40+ year employment history and (at the executive level) have received such contracts! It sure made life easier, at least financially (not ego wise)!!
In my case, the "resignations" came about as a result of a corporate merger or business realignment. Such contracts are not given in the event of criminal or fraudulent activity.
