Goodevening,
Very good news for Brussels Airport.
Unfortunately, the DC-10's will be retired by this inaugural date but the idea of spotting 757's (winglets ?) is also a nice one.

Very nice news ! Can't wait to spot them !

According to the same topic, the arrival time at BRU will be 07:35LT (will be difficult to spot, unless in summer and 02 used).

Regards, Robin Bamps.

The article says B757-200 with winglets.

On a 25L/R-arrival at 07:35, the sun is still in a sharp angle resulting in a dark front section of the aircraft, even in summer. But better than nothing of course

I found also this article today. For non-flemisch speaking people:

Brussels Airport will receive next year the direct connection between Detroit and Brussels.
They are very pleased with this new connection. CEO Van Assche also says that the current capacity on the America routes is reaching their highes point. The pax are asking for more direct routes out of Brussels instead of using other airports.

Van Assche also says that they have talks with different airlines for new destinations. According to him North-America and Asia are priority.

Of course ! But what I meant is that it'll be possible to make nice sun rise shots with the B757 with winglets ;)

Good news indeed ... :D

The possibilities for the B757 are enormous - not too much capacity, but direct flights. What about cargo?

Another thing that strikes me: after years of trials, there seems to be real expansion of intercontinental flights in BRU: Ethiad, Hainan, Ethiopian, ..., now NorthWest. The list of some time ago seems to be materialising ...

Only SN does not expand intercontinentally!

Hi sn 26567
I don't understand that, they will disapear if they don't grow in Africa.
For Ex:My company don't want to take SN anymore because we had 3 canselations this year and for us it's very bad.
So we only fly with A.F for the moment.
With A.F it NEVER hapens or it's very very rare.

Patrice

And there are still trials, don't forget that. Its not over yet.

And also in the pipeline for this year: Axis international Lines and Bravo Air Congo.

Next year: Jet Airways.

I am sure  they will after the merger in April 2007, otherwise you can hardly call it a "national carrier".

Belgian aviation really needs to take back its place in the world.
After all, the Belgians were aviationpioneers in Europe.
Sabena was once the oldest company in the world (Sneta at that time)
Unfortunately our pride got waisted by those in whom we put our trust :the federal government. And I think a lot of people have already forgotten that.

I don't care about SN anymore.. To begin with, they never flew direct between DTW and BRU..and the service in those days was lousy, particularly once you were flying with wife and three kids who were speaking Flemish...

Now we finally will have a direct route where the language is not important..

No, no. You mean Axis Airways based in France filed for bankrupcy.
Axis International Lines is a Camaroun airline.

I don't understand you! When Sabena flew BRU-DTW, they at least were speaking your language. I doubt that Northwest will put Flemish-speaking cabin crew on their BRU flights...
