BRU 21/09/2006

Post by Devon Rex »

Hi all,

I need some of your help on a few planes I've seen today...

- Can somebody give me the registration of the Gemini Air Cargo that was parked at Zaventem today @ 17:00? Is this a regular visitor? I never saw it before.

- I suppose there is/was a special Chinese visitor in Belgium seen the China Air @ Abelag?

- Does somebody recognize this plane? I wasn't able to find the registration (picture only taken hoping to find it under the wings, but it's not there :().

KLIK

I can see D2 or 02 at the front wheels, but I guess I'm missing some spotters experience to recognize it ;)

Thanks for your help...

I think you are talking about our CA-02 of the BAF.

Yes the plane you are looking for is the A310 registered as CA-02 of the Belgian Air Force.

I can tell you that the Gemini Air Cargo is a regular visitor, mostly every day. There are even 2 aircrafts each night on the DHL ramp, a DC10 and a MD11. These 2 aircraft are flying to the US for DHL.
They arrived mostly around 23.00 and leave Brussels around 4 o'clock in the morning.

Kind regards
Bavo

Hangar 41, next to white A310 OE-LMP. Btw on fuselage it only carries the regi "N108DE", noted such on August 27 & September 21.

Hello

Bet sure the Gemeni Air Cargo DC-10F / MD-11F is a regular visitor. Almost daily. It's operating long haul night-flights for DHL Belgium (EAT) because they haven't got the long-range planes for it themselve. (biggest plane is A300-B4F > range = unsufficiant ) In the old days DHL used a mix of Gemeni / World Air Cargo DC-10's / MD-11's. Nowadays it's almost only a Gemeni Air Cargo DC-10/MD11. I hear him almost every night between 22:00-23:00LT on approach for RWY 25R.

If you want to spot it you should go Sunday in the early morning (no later than 8 or 9 O' clock) you might see it. But I can't promise a thing. If you want to spot a World Air Cargo MD-11F go on a Sunday (RWY 25R) at 11:35 (or 12:35 starting from 29.10.2006) , it arrives then.

Best regards: Yannick ;)

Thanks. I've seen the World Air Cargo before too.

Note World Air Cargo doesn't fly for DHL anymore (used to fly Dayton-BRU-Dayton with DC10F/MD11F). The MD-11F now operating into BRU is flying for Air Canada Cargo.

Hi,

earlier the WOA MD11F was flying indeed to dayton and back to BRU , but this flight has been taken over by UPS via Cologne,
Soon the Gemini MD11F (flying for DHL, BRU-JFK-BRU) wil be replaced by a World MD11F
Date unknown , but should be very soon.
Another DC10/MD11 is flying during daytime for Ac Cargo. ( These flight operated by World and Gemini )

Hi

Yes indeed , the good old DC-8's. Don't they fly anymore out of BRU?

Wouldn't know it because they usually fly in the late evening/early morning.
So I haven't got a clu.

Anyway , it used to be that they even didn't came that late or early. I saw them often during the day (take off).

I twice saw a take off (RWY 25R and once a Backtrack on RWY 25L) both n/c DC 8-63F's and they where between 7-8 O'Clock in the morning , what is to my opinion not THAT early.

Would only wish so much that it was still like that , O I would rush myself to EBBR to see that spectacle again. The last time I saw one was the day that the Air Caraibes A330-200 came 2 years ago. (19.09.2004).

Not mentioning that end 2008 it will be done at BRU with DHL :( remember again? :(

Best regards: Yannick ;)

I spotted my last DHL DC-8 at BRU on April 2nd 2005
(http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=320007)
and soon after that DHL ended DC-8 transatlantic flights into BRU.
