Ryanair announce new base in Bremen

Post by Charlie Roy »

Ryanair today announced a new base in Bremen.

Initially they will base 2 aircraft there from April 2007, introducing 9 destinations. They have also confirmed that they will base a 3rd aircraft in Bremen from September 2007, which they will use to add a further 6 routes.

Routes:
Stansted 2 x daily
Torp 1 x Daily
Girona 4 x week
Murcia 4 x week
Tampere 4 x week
Treviso 4 x week
Pisa 3 x week
Riga 3 x week
Verona 3x week

It's nice to see Bremen getting some excellent and brand new routes! :D

On FR's destination map Bremen is located next to Weeze. Does this mean Weeze can forget plans for a new base? Does anybody know the distance between them?

In the press release they say FR is investing 210 million euro's in a new LCC terminal and 3 aircraft. Does this mean they actually invested in the airport?

I am very surprised that from Bremen base will open route to Verona and Venezia/Treviso. It's very near city and at the same time will not connect the main Ryanair Italian base of CIA and BGY.

Ryanair nearest airport to Bremen is Lubeck.

For me the annunce of new base in Bremen is the end of a possible one in Lubeck and will be a progressive closing of route from LBC that will be moved to BRE.

I'm not convinced. Bremen and Lubeck are 112km apart with MILLIONS of people inbetween. I think both could serve as Ryanair bases and be (independently) hugely successful.

Indeed, Verona was a surprise winner from today's new route announcements. I find that it's clever in fact how Ryanair will operate to Treviso 1-3-5-7 and Verona -2-4-6-.

The rumoured destinations from Bremen had been Milan, Pisa, Dublin and Stockholm. Of these, only Pisa was part of today's announcement. That said, the announcement also made clear that 6 more routes will be added from September 2007.

PS - Weeze is not closed. I believe there at legal and noise restrictions preventing Ryanair from basing aircraft there. Like with Lubeck and even with Eindhoven across the border. All will be bases within 3 years in my opinion if the various restrictions can be overcome.

what sort if restrictions are there at eindhoven? ryanair seem to be expanding there very confidently. also, if you like at the routes from weeze and from bremen, it could be said that they comploment each other, perhaps provding a solution if ryanair are forced to leave weeze?
