Today 5 flights on a total of 9 are cancelled!!!!
AT, ET and SV have cancelled their flights according to BIAC. But is that kind of information always reliable, because once I saw one of the cancelled aircrafts took off.
The last couple of weeks those three carriers had several cancellations. What is the main reason? Is this also for other destinations of those?
This is no good news for Brucargo and our companies who used those carriers. When you are not satisfy you look for an other carrier and you can find them at our neighbour airports like AMS, FRA or CDG. You have only trucking your goods to those airports.

I have made some calculations about the total tons a year in the near future when DHL will move a big part away from BRU.
When you take the same cargo airlines of today and with a 100% payload + the total of cargo that pax airlines transported then I have a figure between 300.000 and 340.000 tons a year. I don't have calculated the DHL a/c who will stay at BRU.
When this figure is correct then is LGE the biggest cargo airport of our country and will BRU loose its top 10 position.

BAC, Brussels Airport Company, received permission to dispossess a lot of ground at Brucargo-West. This means there will be an extention from the current Brucargo area till the highway at Diegem.
Also the "new" Ringway, build 3 years ago I think, will also be moved again and this to the outer area. BAC is going to negotiate with the community and Icovo to move away the community container facilities.
They have also plans with the current inplant of DHL. After the move, partial, in 2008 they will replace it to a better spot. Probably to the new Brucargo-West area.
BAC also announced they will fight for their current cargo position even when DHL is moved away in 2008.

Would make sense, since BAC recently created two security zones on the BRU tarmac: Brucargo and the rest. All vehicles and staff coming from Brucargo now have to pass an extra security checkpoint at the tunnel underneath 25R. This is done because Brucargo still isn't 100% safe (and never will be considering the daily amount of traffic, staff and equipment), and BAC is afraid that Brucargo would be used as en entry point for weapons and/or explosives. At this moment, DHL is in the 'safe' area, so I can imagine that BAC wants to move them (or what remains after 2007) to Brucargo.Atlantis wrote:They have also plans with the current inplant of DHL.
