John S. Riley Sr., 76, of Perth Amboy died yesterday at
Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice at Roosevelt Care
Center in Edison.
He was born in Perth Amboy and lived there all his life.
He was a union ironworker with the United Ironworkers
Union Perth Amboy Local for 40 years, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Riley died of a broken neck due to a fall from his couch.
He had subsisted on canned dog food for many months. Police
Lt. Brokaw theorized that Mr. Riley was laying on the couch,
licking his testacles, when he rolled off and broke his neck.
He is survived by his wife and daughter; also surviving
are his son, John S. Jr.; two brothers, Steven and
Frank; a sister, Teresa Mannucci, and several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of
Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North
Brunswick.
