Hey all,
I read eysterday in theHerald Tribune that the US has placed sanctions on Russia, India, N. Korea and some other nations. These bans are limited, and state that US companies cannot work together with companies in these coutnries, and have been placed because these nations supplied militairy intellegence to Iran. Because of Sukkoi's miliatairy aid, and because it is Russian, Boeing is not allowed to continue the developement of the RRJ (in which it has a 30% interest). Because Beoeing has no aircraft in the 70-100 seat range, this cooperation was perfect, but this sanction could possibly cripple America more than the sanctioned nations!
If any one you know more about this, please send in a message,

Boeing Russia boss says projects unaffected by U.S. sanctions
Legally Contesting U.S. Sanctions May Be Difficult, But Not Impossible
From NOVOSTI :
The US Department of State is not going to end its sanctions against the Sukhoi and Rosoboronexport companies from Russia before the appointed time. A US DS official said on August 8 that the sanctions were imposed on July 28, 2006, and will be valid for two years sharp. This is what the US law says. Only the Secretary of State can lift sanctions earlier but Condoleezza Rice has not said she is going to do that.
The US DS official said that the sanctions are compulsory for governmental structures only, while for private companies they may be not. In the private sector everything depends on licenses and lawyers, Strana.ru reports him as saying.
