Thursday, August 24, WAW-BRU on SN metal.
As discussed in other threads, (SN) Brussels Airlines is about to go thru a few changes in the coming months.
Last Thursady, a crew was discussing it loudly among themselves oblivious to the numerous passengers listening...
Rumors or inside info, it's hard to tell but most of it will sound familiar to Luchtzak members.
Things heard include:
- extra seats in Y/cl on avros (6 abreast)
- new service reduced to a light business product upfront and virgin-style low cost in the back
- comment heard "As they cannot bring any drinks on board we'll make loads of money!" (+ laugh)
- "It's good they chose the name Brussels Airlines, had it been Sabena, those old tarts would have given us even more attitude" (!)
Not very professional... Discretion seems to be an unknown virtue and the fact that the purser was the one doing most of the talking rather that asking his crew to keep quiet is especially sad.
At some point one of the passengers almost reacted when the crew was talking about the vodka they had bought duty-free and brought on-board. I wouldn't be surprized if he wrote a complaint and he would be right...
If SN is to invest some money somewhere, crew selection and training might be a good place to start!
SN crew spreads rumors
Re: SN crew spreads rumors
These remarks are contradictory, passengers buy and bring on board what they want once they have cleared security (at least in France and UK, I did it this week-end) , airlines won't make a lot of money on in-flight service...vflies wrote:Thursday, August 24, WAW-BRU on SN metal.

It has been known quite a while: crew members have seen sick bags and safety cards with the name "Brussels Airlines" on them.TWA wrote:How come they already know the name of the new company!!!!!!
I don't like the idea of 6-abreast Avros. It will be like 4-abreats ERJs, just not enough room to do it in a decent way. I tought SN was doing quite well with the current service?

Your experience is exceptional. I never heard of or personally experienced any SN BA crew behaving like that since the inception of the airline. You are right to complain about it, and Management need to take measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
In all groups there are good and bad elements. You had bad luck. Let's hope this will not happen again after your publicity.
