Its mentioned several times that they will have two direct flights from FIH to BRU and BRU to FIH.

The Monday flight will go via CDG.

Nationale Congolese luchtvaartmaatschappij herneemt vluchten

LAC (ex Air Congo - ex Air Zaire) has resumed flights after years of inactivity.

The first flight has been operated last saturday by a B732 in the colours of the Republic of Congo, connecting Kinshasa with Kisangani and Bunia.

Reportedly this is "just the beginning", as they expect to put additional aircraft into service and to cover more destinations, initially domestic ones, but later on some international or intercontinental destinations will be added. As from September LAC will have a B767 available.

What other intercontinental destinations would they be considering apart from CDG and BRU? DXB, PEK?

Imagine having 4 different carriers (SNBA / Hewa Bora / Bravo Air Congo / LAC) on FIH-BRU!

Are they considering CDG or BRU? That would mean, if they want to compete with Bravo, that they have to offer prices under 800 euros.

Competition would be very nice on this route. But why don't SNBA offer single flights to FIH? More and more airlines are considering to offer single flights. This is more interesting for pax.
HBA offer single flights, Bravo Air Congo will offer two of their three flights as a single flight to FIH.

But about the "new" flights of LAC, first wait and see. Everything depends what the unknown moneymaker will do.

Remember that other Congolese airline "Scibe" that was flying FBM-FIH-BRU for a while during the eighties/nineties. I remember a Sunday evening arrival at BRU with a B707. I don't know for how long they have been operating their DC10 to BRU later on.

I understand that Scibe was part of the business empire of a mister "Bemba". Wat that the same Bemba as the one that is currently running as a presidential candidate in Congo?

Hewa Bora is the place of birth of current president Joseph Kabila. Therefore I suspect that he is financially involved in Hewa Bora Airlines.

I believe that also former Congolese president Mobutu had a stake in a local airline, i.e. Air Zaire.

Politics and the airline industry go apparently hand in hand in Congo.

Where did they find the money to re-launch LAC, which was as good as bankrupt since a few years?

It's his son Jean Pierre Bemba who's running now for president!

Hm. If they can't distinguish "destinies" from "destinations" they might well scare off some native English speaking pax. I for one would carefully avoid a destiny in the Congo...

A very shrewd remark, that. Weren't we reminded that most Congo airlines are linked up with one or another political clan? As things stand, they'll be waiting for a few more months.

They'll probably scare off any aviation-educated passenger when reading the "9Q-" registration on medium/short-haul aircraft.

Bravo is advertising "European standards" for its fleet, but I doubt they'll follow JAR-OPS and EASA Parts for the "9Q-" aircraft. Which means, at least to me, that their sales pitch is just crap. I can't wait to see if Bravo will be included in the next revision of the European black list ! Wait & see...

By the way they plan to start domestic operations on 9/11. Congolese sense of humor I guess...

1/SCIBE has been flying under QC (Air Zaire) fltnr.

2/in SCIBE, BE stands for Bemba, don't remember the other characters

Société Commerciale et Industrielle Bemba, 744rules
Scibe Airlift S.P.R.L

LEES Congolees vice-president Jean-Pierre Bemba opnieuw in vieze papieren

Boeing 727 ("immatriculatie 9Q-CBF") That is why I was interested to know what B727 was in Brussels recently.

You will understand that I do not want to translate...

I was checking the site and I saw that it is possible to book your flight from Brussels to Kinshasa. Return fare from 1.120,00 € taxes and fares included.$

Flights would be starting the 1st Jan 2007 ?
Best regards,

Airbuske
