Hope they put this beast through a wind tunnel.
That fuselage may affect airflow over the elevators, particularly in crosswind approach configuration.

Quite an awesome conversion!

Cheers

Like I already stated in the original topic :

viewtopic.php?t=17478

The first test flight will be on 8/23 and ferry back to US on 8/28 at RCTP Airport.

I have also some questions about the design of tail section, looks like the fitted the wrong tail to this huge fuselage. Like you see on other huge aircrafts : Beluga , Antonov 225 als the 747 they use for transporting the space shuttle, they redesigned the elevator with vertical fins at the ends for more stability control.

Also I think the wings will be affected by high flutter effects.
for who don't know what flutter is : link to wikipedia

Both the 747 shuttle carrier and the An-225 were designed to fly around with a huge bulky object strapped to their back, which would cause major problems if the rudder was behind it. Also, the beluga's hump-to-original-tail-height ratio is probably worse than the LCF.

Some other pictures can be found : here

earthman , I think your right , vertical fine is way bigger than the fin on the beluga , also wing area is much bigger. But still looks strange this tail section.

Do you really think Boeing did this without models in windtunnels?

I agree. I wonder what paint scheme they will put on it. I think just white with some 787 carrier titles on it.

I read somewhere that 300 Russian engineers are involved for the design.

You guys have to be kidding?? that is the most beautiful bird I have seen in quite a few years. I hope they have the 787 paint scheme on that bird. Boeing will probably carry the first flight on its website. I don't know, I just love huge planes like the 747LCF.

Most of the people don't want to use this to be their computer desktop 'cause it's too ugly, and some pilots who saw this big monster mistakely recongnize her as A380!
