Do people refer to Bangkok Airways or Bulgaria Air as BA too?

It's not like no other airline should ever be called <geographical name of the place starting with a B> + Airlines/Airways just because there happens to be an airline in London which calles itself 'BA'.

Besides, that whole SNBA thing is something incorrectly used here and by a few in the press; the correct short form to refer to the company has always been SN.

According to Travel Magazine newsletter there was a meeting with some good clients of SNBA and SNBA was given some names to look if they are suitable to use. There was asked to keep it secret, but they still received some names.

Those new "possible" names are: SN airlines, SN Express, European airlines and SABENA.

There are other names but that's not known what they are.
The final decision, final name, is already made.

This shilly-shallying with the name of the new company get rather childish; God help that company, if that is how the management wavers before taking a decision (and a not so important one, at that).

You have American Airlines so why wouldn't European Airlines work?

I just had a quick look on the internet and found this on Google when typing 'snexpress': www.snexpress.com Coming Soon! I'm not sure but perhaps this could have somenthing to do with the name of the new airline?
Cheers,

They should move to AMS if they were to choose this name

VS Airline (Too bad it is already the IATA code of Virgin Atlantic)

Anybody who knows a frequent traveller who participated at the poll with the list of all possible names?

If yes, please send us the list so that we can have our own poll on this site.

I just checked it the domain is still free. ....

I also think that something with European would be nice. Brussels is the captial of Europe. It would be nice to take a name related to Europe....

Because the 'American' refers to the US and not to the continent. And in Europe there is no country that calls itself Europe.
Sky Europe refers to the continent, but that is because it is a regional carrier not flying out of Europe. And since SN is going to expand in Africa and the US, then the the second meaning is also lost...

I know a former sabena air hostess (she now works with klm as a purser) and she said that she heard that the new name could be Sabena. The chance it will be Sabena is 7/10 she said.

But don't shoot me if it is not correct, the reason why she knows that is because she has connections at SN brussels.
