Retro colours seem to be fashion: after the Lufthansa ones...

The picture is made at XFW (Hamburg-Finkenwerder), where the German Airbus factory is located. Most probably it's a new airframe, parked prior delivery to Hainan Airlines.

When you look closely, you can also see it has a German test-reg on it and no Chinese yet.

That Viking symbol of a boat/Ship is soooo wonderful! Its just a perfect symbol to have on there aircraft!
I suppose the use the brown colors to make it look like the real thing!

Had SAS done the retro correctly, it should have been either like this:

1956- look

or like this:

1966- look

The result now is a mix of the two above plus the white engines from '80s Janne colours.

I think it looks really great in this retro livery, maybe they should re-introduce this as a replacement to the currant one.

I don't think they where actually intending to exactly make a copy of the old scheme, just something that resembled it. US Airways also messed up one of it's retrojets once.

Hey, we fixed them all. ;)

The smile on the PSA plane was fixed. The Allegheny plane was fixed and the Piedmont plane's blue was fixed.

The AWA plane was right the first time.

And since SAS is 60 years today (treaty signed at 3am on 1 August 1946 to form the SAS consortium for trans atlantic flights) I have just finished the in-air drawing of Christian Waldemar Viking (MSN 2850) with the registration it will get: OY-KBO

Image

The first SAS flight was from the three Scandinavian cities Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo to New York on 17 September 1946 with this former SILA (Svensk Interkontinental Lufttrafikk AB) DC-4:

This retro livery really looks great! It would be nice if SAS did a more modern version of this livery to replace the current one.

That's for sure, above the registration you can see a code, it's c/n 2850.
