Hainan starts this summer flights to Peking from BRU

The title of this topic is slightly annoying. Where's Peking?

Does Turkish Air fly out of Constantinople? Does Aeroflot fly from Leningrad? Stalingrad?

Me too, for a PEK-BRU I'd rather say they fly 3/4 of the trip over Russian territory.
PEK-BRU = 7966 km <SHA-BRU 9015 km <BRU-BRU 9243 km <BRU-SIN =10559 km Great Circle.
PEK-BRU imho will come close to OVB.
Maybe some one mixed Himalaya route (?) with Siberian route... Coming near the Himalayas on the PEK-BRU route would mean a detour of some 2000km, not making the trip safer either.

btw PEK-KTM and KTM-BRU, would be two legs in an angle of almost 90degrees...

Although I agree a PEK-BUD route could be a little more South
BRU = 50°54'05"N
BUD = 47°26'13"N
both destinations are North of their origin, and cold stable air is better environment for saving fuel.
PEK = 40°04'48"N
SHA =31°11'52"N between SAN 32°44'01"N & HOU 29°38'44"N

(FYI: NYC = 40°43'N & IST 40°58'37"N, only 15 minutes difference! And PEK lies most South of these three.)

SIN = 01°21'01"N

The first flight is indeed on 20th of July. The timetable is already listed on the BIAC site for a couple of days.

According to Air Agencies the ticketsale for the Hainan flights are very, very good. The two first flights were sold out in no time.

I expected this for the first flight. They carry a lot of journalists, VIP's, etc on that flight but there is a strong demand for a direct connection between BRU and China.

The first flight will be indeed full of VIP's and journalists. There will be a reception too (like with the first flight of Etihad). The arrival is scheduled around 1810 and it will be parked at the 300-parkings (opposite to the B-pier) and then departure at 20.40 is normally at gate B01.

After Etihad and Ethiopian another nice new widebody @ BRU !

The lucky number for the inaugural flight was B-2491.

Too bad that a 25L-arrival at 17:50LT isn't a real gift for
photographers (in terms of lighting). Also no sun during landing...

Hope to catch it soon at the 02 !

Indeed Robin and it seems that BRU will have now in the evening some long hauls: Etihad, Ethiopian, Hainan and in the near future Bravo Air Congo.

Rolls-Royce announced today at the Farnborough International Airshow that the Hainan Airlines Group has selected the Trent 700 to power a new fleet of five Airbus A330s in a deal worth $250 million, including a long-term TotalCare® services agreement. They intend to lease via ILFC.

Hainan is doing what SNBA is not doing. Maybe because Hainin pockets are a little bit deeper?

Aviapartner signed a contract with Hainan Airlines for the cargo handling and catering.

Hainan choosed for Aviapartner because they can offer the best carts. They can offer a wide route by road in Europe for the importcargo.
About the catering; Hainan was very surprised about the variety and presentation of Chinese food they can offer in Business and Economy class.

One of the demands of Hainan, before they started flights to BRU, was to have a lot of infrastructure and logistics for their cargo at BRU.

Dear all,

I flew Hainan two weeks ago between Shanghai and Beijing in a 767-300. To my suprise there was no business class (big disappointment as I had row 4). But the biggest suprise was to find a Malev inflight magazine. This means that the it flew intercontinental without Business Class. Now I'm wondering:

Dio they have planes with a real Business Class?
Do they sell Business between Brussels and China in economy seats (as SN used to do for Tel Aviv in Sobelair's 767-300?
Or do they just sell economy?

Dear Stij, that's called an inaugural fare. During an inaugural period, airlines are allowed special fares. It's tradition too.

But you wrote you was surprised? You did not pay C-class? and got a 4th row seat boarding pass. I guess you had big expectations, until you was seated?
And Hainan is not in Seatguru not here and not here, and not here

Yet we know these B767's fly to BUD* as MA code share flights. But no info there...

*btw many Magyars went to aeronautical schools in China and vv.

No I didn't pay C class (I never do), but when you get a row 4 boarding pass and you see a B767-300, you begin to hope.

What surprised me was to find a MALEV inflight magazine in all Y seat 767-300 while SN sells C seats.

Hainan Airlines has a fleet of 5 Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

Two are flying in an all-economy lay-out on the international flights to/from Budapest (you flew on such an aircraft, Stij). Those aircraft are ex-Sobelair by the way. The regs of those two aircraft are B-2561 and B-2562.

The other three B763 aircraft are used for the flights to/from Brussels (B-2490/91/92). Those aircraft are configured with both Y and C-Class (even with PTVs in Y-Class!).
