Back in the days I was flying, TWA had a contract to train the Olympic pilots, and I had occasion to be with them now and then in Ground School and the Simulator.

They were a savvy and professional bunch, and all around fine fellows, FWIW.

You can ask Kate Ryan about this
The forseen hour of departure was 15:30 but eventually the real hour of departure was 19:15.
The reason .....Olympic forgot to book a crew for that flight.

Hi,

I've flown once with Olympic (EBBR-LGAV, LGAV-LGIR and back). On the way back from Crete to Athens, the plane was late and I missed my connection in Athens. However, they put me (with some more 10 to 15 people) on the flight to Munich. When asking what they would do with us in Munich I got the answer: "we don't know yet but we'll figure out". In Munich, we had to stay on the plane. Passengers began bording our plane which, apparantly, had to fly back to Athens. However, the pilot announced that the plane would not fly directly to Athens as forseen, but would rather make a stop in Brussels..

So in the end, it was a nice experience. They got me where I had to be, and a lot earlier than if they would have put me on the next flight from Athens to Brussels!

Best,
Wim.

I have a big experience with Olympic since I have been flying for 10 years now with them from Brussels to Athens every summer and winter.

I have to say that I've never been too late on my destination, except when the flight was delayed of course. Like last winter we were waiting at the gate for about half an hour and suddenly we saw the crew leaving the aircraft...we asked what was going on and they said there was a problem with the plane.
But they went to another standby plane immediately and we boarded and took off 15 minutes too late. In the end we arrived in Brussels 10 minutes prior to our normal arrival! Pretty cool that, thinking about the fact that in Brussels the weather was icy and windy...I didn't see the runway untill we were at about 800 ft. Anyway, that was nice done...

On that vacation, we went to Athens with Virgin Express. I have to say, the difference between those two flights was the quality of the airplane. Virgin was old, not a lot of comfort while the plane of Olympic was very nice and chilly...enough room for your feet etc.

I think I'm very satisfied with Olympic. In the early days with Sabena we often went with Olympic and came back with Sabena, or the opposite way...and those two companies were kind of the same!

Greetz and have a nice flight
Alex

You can see other people's views at www.airlinequality.com ... a mixed bag of opinions there.

I flew them recently (BRU-ATH) and I was quite satisfied. They have a rather bad reputation but, except for one hour delay (you can expect this), didn't have too many troubles. Aircraft was okay, food was good, ... Don't worry, you'll arrive at your destination ;).
