Centavia ready for flights but........

Post by JAT_boy_BEG »

BEOGRAD - Serbias first low cost carrier, Centavia, has received it's first a/c, BAe 146-200 on 15th June with the a/c just recently been painted by JAT technics at Beograd Nikola Tesla Airport. Registered YU-AGL, the a/c had arrived from London with it's previous owner being Meridiana.

The F/A's have all came back from training, where they underwent training in Melbourne, Australia. The first lot had arrived on May 5th while the other lot returned shortly afterwards.

Serbian government has not allowed the airline to fly, as it has not met the requirements in the Serbian Law. Serbian Law states that a registered airline in Serbia needs to have a fleet of no more than 2 a/c, with Centavia currently having 1. The second BAe 146 is scheduled to arrive in Beograd Nikola Tesla Airport in mid July.

The airline plans to open destinations throughout Europe and Northern Africa. The destinations include Budapest, Bergamo, Bratislava, Basle, Cologne, Hamburg, Athens and Istanbul.

Some pictures of the Centavia BAe146 are available:

So was there a flight until now or not?

I think many readers would appreciate it, if you could put all the information in ONE thread - it would be much easier to find.

That's a strange law... Why can't an airline fly with only one a/c?

P.s. I don't really like their c/s. That weird green nose. And that on a BAe146...

nice so see more airliners at BEG.
But hard times for JAT, because of Cantavia.

I hope to see a lot of price dropings, because JAT was way to expensive!

JAT was expensive previously, but not now, not for the past 8 months maybe more. Starcevic is doing a good job in looking after JAT. Because of the reduced airfares with JAT, passenger numbers have had massive improvments. Also, JAT is introducing a low-cost section on their regional flights/

At the moment, there is no hard time for JAT because of Centavia, but Centavia will have tough times ahead in September when then compete with German wings for the BEG-CGN route. Also, 5 low cost airlines have demanded to open routes in BEG. There is SQ, EK, JP and a few other airlines who have expressed their interest in BEG.
