Why change name? There will only be a few 733s based in Poland Do we hear suggestions about easyJet, Ryanair and Air Berlin changing names when they add new bases?earthman wrote:I still think they should change their name, since most of their destinations from Poland are not even in the general direction of Norway.
The Norwegian (Air Shuttle) fleet counts today 17 Boeing 737-300, but in some few days it will be 19. Rumours have it that four more 733s are incoming in near future. If we presume they can still hold on to something similar to their current growth rate (+66% first five months this compared with the same months last year), many more aircraft must be added in the coming year. Norwegian (Air Shuttle) has already reserved the following new registration numbers to cover for further expansion:
LN-KKA
LN-KKE
LN-KKD
LN-NOx - except -NOA and -NOK
easyJet & Ryanair don't have any geografical reference in their name. AirBerlin does, so it isn't that odd. I does however matter in marketing issues, I would suppose.LN-KGL wrote:Why change name? The point is, LCCs tend to sell their tickets directly, not through agents. If you want to fly to Alicante in Spain from Poland, the last airline you would think of checking would be something called Norwegian. This is less of an issue for airlines selling tickets through travel agents and other systems, where you simply say where you want to go, and you get the cheapest option irrespective of airline (as long as that airline is in the system).Buzz wrote:easyJet & Ryanair don't have any geografical reference in their name. Of course, if they advertise enough, people will know. I've heard enough about Air Berlin to know that they do not fly only to Berlin.
