Flying from BRU/AMS/CDG to Australia

Post by BRU-CPH »

I am planning to visit Autstralia and probably New Zealand during December and August. Does someone has some good tips to get cheap and/or nice flights from Belgium or neighbouring airports?
It seems to be difficult to find cheap fares as we are going for 2 months, and most cheap fares (such as early booking fares) are for a limited stay of just 1 month.

Well, I went to Oz last year in November, and via Aussietours.be I got a nice deal on Qantas (1100 EUR including one domestic flight, but this did not include taxes I think).

I did BRU-LHR (BA) LHR-SIN-SYD (QF), and, not taking into account domestic flights, CNS-HKG (AO), HKG-LHR (BA) and LHR-BRU (BA).

I don't know the schedules of eg EK to Oz, but QF32 is a good flight since it arrives in SYD in the evening.

Best regards,
Ivan

Ive heard some good stories about Garuda (the indonesian airliner), they fly from AMS with a stopover in Jakarta. Not very expensive.

Emirates has an offer of €775 from DUS via DXB to SYD, but I think SQ offers a nice deal as well from AMS for €798

Use Qantas from London or Singapore Airlines from Amsterdam/LHR or FRA? I have travelled with QF and SIA in the past. They are both good and reasonably priced.
Gulf Air has also good things to offer but you have to possibly fly from LHR to Bahrain and then to SYD via SIN.
Or Austrian Airlines are becoming popular too. SYD via KL to Vienna then to your nearest airport.

Good Luck. Sydney is very cold at the moment, but Darwin and Queensland will be sunny for you.

Welcome to Australia. I hope you will enjoy your stay. It is a beautiful country mate!! 8)

I've flown to Australia on QF a few times, and can definitely recommend QF 32 (arrives around 7 pm if I remember well). Check out the Belgium section on qantas.com.au for special deals.

With taxes, this one will be between 1150 and 1200 euro, but it does include return flight from BRU to LHR or FRA. If you fly BA, you might be able to get boarding passes for the connecting QF flight in LHR. If not, transfer in LHR is dead easy, as opposed to FRA where you need to change terminals and queue at the Qantas check-in desk to get your boarding pass.

I hope it won't be to hot down there.

Dear BRU-CPH,

You are talking about visiting OZ in December or January. Mate, this is high season for travellers to OZ, therefore I strongly recommend you to book now as there will be almost no seats available for that season.

Also it will be very very hot!!! December and January are the hottest months here. I can guarantee that you will have your Xmas and New Years Eve at the beach side. I guess something which the Europeans don't experience at all like we don't see the snow during this period.

Stick to Qantas/BA or Singapore Airlines then. You will be looked after by them very well.

Qantas to Australia

Post by Air_littoral »

Hello,
I just got back yesterday from Australia and flew Qantas all the way.
I'm an airline staff so don't know much about the actual price, but their service is very good. We flew BRU-FRA (LH) FRA-SIN-SYD (QF) and back DRW-SIN-FRA (QF) and LH again to BRU. Though pretty long, QF makes it an enjoyable flight and the way to Australia is rather short due to 2 night flights. We also flew QF on 4 domestic sectors, same professionalism and level of service: outstanding for economy (good food, nice amenity kit, snacks all the way between meals, PTV with large and surprisingly interesting selection -even on demand on their 333). Their staff is genuinely friendly and really taking good care of you. The other advantage offered by QF is that you can fly direct from SIN and back to almost any main city in Autralia, which makes it easy to travel back home when going round Australia.
I wish you a lot of fun down under! :D
