What do you think? Those are my first "spotting" pictures. I bought the camera (Pana FZ30) and just went to the nearest airport. I have only experience with point&shoot cameras.

Thanks for your honesty!

Hello there,

Nice to see some new spotters.
The quality of your pictures is pretty good but i doubt airliners or any other submit site would aprove them. You need to crop your pictures, cut them from nose to tail and center the subject. You have got 8 Mpixel with that camera so the pictures shouls be big enough to crop and still have perfect quality.
For the rest the pictures are razor sharp so no worries there. Might want to wait a few more hours to take pics untill you got the sun at your back, i think the sun was heads up on these pictures if i'm correct.

Conclusion: nice sharp pictures but needs alot of cropping.

Either you didn't zoom enough or you didn't crop enough, cause the aircraft do not fill your image as you have a thick border of air on both sides of the aircraft. Also, the images seem to be a little dark, al little bit of extra brightness wouldn't harm.

I think you can expect a cold shower as an A.net screening result, cause my prediction is that it will be 5 rejections ...

maybe an example :
when cropping your images, make them something like this : http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1056615/L/
well cropped and well lit !
[ EDIT : also see your images in my next post ]

Anyway, keep the practicing going ! You can't be good right from the start ! just keep trying and you'll get there !

Back again,

I just took your images of the net and did a little edit on them, just to give you the idea of what you should do.

Being good at taking pictures is an important part of aviation photography, but an equally important part is mastering the skills to edit your images well. And personally, I think that's where you'll need to learn the most.

Hope this helps you !

If you got any questions, feel free to ask !
