For me training began of classroom then training in L 29 after i was few lucky enough to advance to Mig 21 then 1 yr later 1991 few flights for me due to lack of fuel & Russia not having $$ i go to reserves.
Fist flight in a glider something like 24 years ago, don't ask me what kind it was but I was sitting next to the pilot. First "real" flight was in the airforce with a F-27 troopship from Gilze Rijen to the border with (in that time) east germany. Watching to the iron curtain between east and west was very strange, especially to see the east german soldiers were looking back to us also with binoculars.
Something to remember:
As I don't have any practical flying experience of my own, I will say that my first ever flight was in a Boeing 707 of British Airtours, between London Gatwick and Tenerife North. I was four years old at the time (see report in "Airline Experiences" forum).
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

The first plane i ever flew was an AN2 colt. I must have been 13years old, and was on a vacation in the former Yugoslavia, now better known as Croatia. Excursions were done for tourists with the An2 at a VERY cheap price, I think it was 25eur for 30 min. After the takeoff we climbed to cruizing alttude, then the pilot called me into the cockpit, and told me I had to fly the thing... will never forget this...
